    This is a continuous recruitment and will remain open until filled.

    The City's Human Resources Department is seeking a highly skilled and organized Human Resources Assistant to support our Workers' Compensation Program. This role involves assisting with the management of workers' compensation claims and processes, as well as supporting various HR projects, research, and administrative duties. The position also serves as the first point of contact for employees and the public.

    The ideal candidate will have experience in human resources and workers' compensation claims, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing documentation and records. Proficiency in data entry, spreadsheets, and database management systems is essential. The candidate must maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism. Additionally, the ideal candidate should be able to work independently, meet strict deadlines, and provide excellent customer service. Intermediate experience using MS Office - Word, Outlook, and Excel - is essential for success in this role.

    This is a Limited Hourly position that does not receive any benefits and is limited to working 999 hours per fiscal year.

    Schedule: Hybrid (in-person and remote days).
    Salary: Depending on work experience, $25.00 to $40.00 per hour.

    Essential Duties:

    Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
    • Assists with managing workers' compensation claims, ensuring accurate documentation, tracking, and effective communication.
    • Prepares, processes, distributes, and maintains workers' compensation files, along with personnel records, documents, logs, and other HR-related information.
    • Serves as the primary contact for injured employees, providing information on workers' compensation procedures and benefits.
    • Calculates and verifies workers' compensation benefit hours, coordinating with payroll to ensure accurate timecard coding.
    • Coordinates with departments, employees, and third-party administrators (TPA) to ensure proper claim processing and benefit distribution.
    • Responds to requests for information from employees and the public via phone, in person, and email.


    Minimum Qualifications:

    Sufficient education, training and/or work experience to demonstrate possession of the following knowledge and skills, which would typically be acquired through:
    • Associate degree and two (2) years of experience in an administrative or support role, preferably within a human resources or insurance-related function; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of position.
    Preferred qualifications:
    • Knowledge of workers' compensation processes and regulations.
    • Experience in public sector human resources.
