      • Position Summary
      • Full-time temporary position available on or after January 6, 2025 in the College of Science/STEM Grants. Appointment will be made for one year from date of hire with the possibility of reappointment based on budget, department needs, and job performance.

        Under the general supervision of the Director for ASPIRE Program, the Research Technician has primary responsibility to support the data collection, analysis, and reporting needs of the ASPIRE Grant. This position serves as the primary resource that provides analytical support, including coordination of data collection, dissemination of data, and data reporting tasks as requested by the ASPIRE project team.

      • Job Duties
      • Duties include but are not limited to:
        • Working with the ASPIRE project leadership to determine appropriate research and data analysis methodologies.
        • Compile and analyze multiple data elements related to the grant project and will interface and liaise as necessary with project personnel.
        • Create and maintain analytical datasets for student "pipeline" or prospect studies, applications and admissions tracking analysis, degrees conferred reporting, student retention and graduation rate analysis, and provide additional reports on key performance indicators of ASPIRE project transfers to CSU Stanislaus.
        • Create and maintain other datasets as necessary, and/or update existing programs to compile and extract data.
        • Querying large databases (i.e. PeopleSoft), and review data extracted for completeness and accuracy, including development of additional programs to further clean and/or manipulate the data, and create reports.
        • Support the development of assessment or feedback surveys as well as provide analysis of data.
        • Working with diverse stakeholders to develop and/or formulate research questions, assist with web-based survey design and format, develop sampling procedures, gather and analyze data, and provide summary reports to the project team for performance management and/or dissemination as needed.
        • Work with internal clients to develop customized and summary reports.
        • Respond to ad hoc requests from the university community and external constituents.
        • Serve as liaison or representative for ASPIRE project committees or working group, including but not limited to the STEM Success Project data and research team and CSU HSI-STEM Think Tank collaborative.
        • Maintain relationships with staff in the Institutional Effectiveness & Analytics Office, the Office of Information Technology, and Enrollment Services.
        • Serve on other related committees as needed.
        • Other duties as assigned.
      • Minimum Qualifications
      • Education : Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university, including or supplemented by a course in statistics. Additional experience which has demonstrated that the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities delineated below may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
        Experience : One year of experience in technical research or statistical work. One year of graduate study in the social sciences, economics, mathematics, statistics, public or business administration, or engineering fields may be substituted for the required experience.
      • Preferred Qualifications
        • Bachelor's degree in an analytical or social science field.
        • Experience using MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.), PeopleSoft or other querying tools.
        • Experience using specialized web-based survey software.
        • General knowledge of commonly used data elements and procedures for federal/state/regional reporting requirements to such entities as, the CSU Chancellor's Office, IPEDS National Center for Education Statistics, and Department of Education
      • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
        • Working knowledge of research techniques and the methods of preparation of research reports;
        • Working knowledge of statistical principles and procedures, including methods of frequency series, data, simple correlation methods, sampling techniques, and construction of index numbers.
        • Ability to assist in preparation of questionnaires, gathering and analyzing research data, and in compiling data for reports and summaries in tabular, graphic, and pictorial form.
        • Ability to prepare clear and concise reports;
        • Ability to analyze situations accurately and to adopt an effective course of action;
        • Ability to speak and write effectively.
      • Salary Range
      • Anticipated salary will be $3,680 - $4,048 per month plus excellent paid benefits. Salary will depend on the qualifications of the successful finalist. (Full range: $3,680 - $6,628per month)
