Associate Auditor - Department of Revenue Salary: $48,496.56 annually
Job Location: This position will be located at 301 W. High St., Jefferson City, MO.
Why you’ll love this position: The Department of Revenue is seeking a qualified professional to join our Internal Audit and Compliance team in Jefferson City.
This is entry-level professional work involving auditing contracted services for the Department and external organizations. Assignments can also include program and financial auditing of internal operations and processes for the Department of Revenue.
What you’ll do: • Audit and evaluate, through application of appropriate auditing methods and techniques, the program operations and activities of a state agency for exercise of proper controls, conformance to agency and program standards, compliance to contractual terms, financial soundness, and proper application of regulations and procedures against established program criteria and objectives.
• Evaluate department employees and contractors to ensure compliance with department policies and procedures.
• Identify and evaluate management functions by using audit procedures to identify and correct management deficiencies or practices not in compliance with state and federal standards.
• Interpret applicable federal and state laws, rules, and regulations to agency personnel, contractors, and external organizations.
• Prepare formal audit working papers containing all pertinent observations, findings, evaluations, and recommendations on proposed and existing programs and organizations.
All you need for success: Typical Qualifications; • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree or higher in accounting, business administration, or a related business area.
• 0-2 years of professional auditing experience.
• Must be willing to travel periodically statewide, including overnight travel.
• Good communication, interpersonal skills, and writing skills are essential.
• Computer experience required, with a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications: • Working knowledge of accounting principles and auditing standards and procedures.
• Ability to demonstrate regular and reliable attendance.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within the bureau and other department divisions.
• Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities on a concurrent basis to meet established deadlines.
