Position available with the Water Department, Water Quality Division located at 4800 E. 63rd St.
Salary Range: $5,173-$7,759/month
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Responsibilities
- Supports the management of the City's compliance efforts with the Missouri Department of Natural Resource (MDNR)permit for the Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4).
- Manages and implements specific permit-driven programs by developing or improving program approaches developing or improving standard operating procedures.
- Coordinates field investigation and inspection; communicating and coordinating with internal staff, outside customers and other agencies; tracking program and project progress.
- Develops and manages databases, prepare reports and written documents, and performing program evaluation.
- Programs include dry weather screening, inspection of stormwater structural best management practices (BMPs), investigation of illicit discharges, and monitoring water quality of stormwater runoff and surface waterbodies.
- Performs tasks related to the collection system and/or the water quality of surface waterbodies.
- The successful candidate shall self-direct field work and may receive additional support when deemed necessary by the supervisor.
- Fieldwork includes multiple terrain conditions and multiple weather conditions.
- Work is sometimes after regular business hours and could include evenings and weekends.
Ensures compliance with the City's MS4 Permit is a vital function of the City. Non-compliance can lead to adverse regulatory actions. - Helps to maintain compliance with our Permit terms, which provide environmental protection for the public.
Qualifications
REQUIRES an accredited Bachelor's degree in in an environmentally related field such as environmental science, and related physical and life sciences, environmental engineering, and related engineering specializations, environmental law and related legal specializations; environmental studies and related management and public administration specializations; and 2 years of experience as an environmental professional; OR an equivalent combination of qualifying education and experience. Must possess a valid State-issued driver's license in accordance with the City of KCMO policies. May be required to pass a preemployment drug screen.

Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.
If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
