Job Summary/ Objective: Works under limited supervision providing non-routine evening-time custodial services, security services, non-routine maintenance checks and provides customer service for staff and County officials at designated county owned facilities.
This position is a part-time, evening position. The typical schedule would be from 6pm to 10pm, Monday through Friday. Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A
Essential Functions: - Conducts internal and external security checks of assigned buildings and notifies proper authorities of any suspicious activity.
- Performs minor maintenance and custodial services per request during afterhours meetings.
- Conducts audits on lighting and other facility issues and reports deficiencies to supervisor.
- Provides facility related assistance to County Staff and the General public during afterhours meetings.
- Inspects Pool vehicles for cleanliness and operational readiness and refuels as needed. Communicates any deficiencies to supervisor for correction or repair.
- Ensures that assigned facilities and vehicle lots are secure at end of shift.
Competency: Knowledge/ Skills/Abilities: - Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions,
- Perform minor maintenance and custodial services
- Maintain a valid drivers' license;
Required Education and Experience: - Any combination that is equivalent to a high school diploma or GED.
- Possession of a valid appropriate driver's permit issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Preferred Qualifications/Certifications: N/A Physical and Mental Requirements: - Job requires walking and standing for extended periods of time, walking up to a quarter of a mile non-stop;
- Light lifting and carrying objects weighing 10-15 pounds;
- Some meeting room furniture moving;
- Operating a motor vehicles.
- Work may expose employee to potential injuries and frequent weather conditions.
- Possible exposure to potentially hazardous substances.
- Frequent and regular contact with internal staff and the outside public for the purpose of providing directional assistance.
- Must be able to climb stairs and maneuver over uneven surfaces.
- Must have the ability to work comfortably alone and in various lighting conditions, both inside and outside.
Salary Range:The hiring range for this position is $18.36 - $20.29 per hour (approx. $19,094 - $21,102 per year). Starting offer is based on applicable education beyond minimum requirements and internal equity. This is a part-time, FLSA non-exempt position. Internal candidates will receive pay adjustments in accordance with Local Government Personnel Policy, §P-60.
