    The Position

    Environmental Scientists perform program research, planning and development, permitting, compliance monitoring, inspections/enforcement, and technical support services in relation to air, water, waste, federal facilities, corrective action, mining, biology and other environmental programs.

    Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.

    The Nevada Division of Environmental Protection, Bureau of Water Quality Planning, is seeking applicants for an Environmental Scientist (ES) III position in Carson City. This position is in the Nonpoint Source Pollution Branch. This Branch is responsible for soliciting, developing and overseeing activities leading to reductions of nonpoint source pollution to Nevada's waters. Specific duties include communication and coordination with stakeholders, developing plans to improve watershed health and water quality, coordinating grant supported efforts that address improvement of watersheds. Additional work includes administering grant sub awards; assisting with special projects; informing audiences about nonpoint source pollution, watershed stewardship, and water quality protection; reporting quarterly and annually as well as record keeping on grants.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in the physical, natural resource or life sciences, engineering or closely related field and three years of professional environmental experience which involved environmental program research and planning; OR graduation from high school or equivalent and five years of professional environmental experience as described above; OR one year of experience as an Environmental Scientist II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
