This Senior Accounts Assistant position will work under the Financial Manager for the Missouri Army National Guard’s (MOARNG) Environmental Office. Military experience is desired but not required.
Job Location: This position will be located at Ike Skelton Training Site, Jefferson City, MO.
Perform accuracy reviews and process purchase orders, encumbrances, and payments for execution of the Missouri National Guard Environmental Program (NGMO-EM). Based on a complex mixture of formal and informal, recordkeeping and accounting systems, determine the appropriate sequence of multiple entries in SAMII, Missouri Buys, and other state/federal accounting programs. Examine expenditures for propriety and reasonableness and determine appropriate accounts to be charged or credited. Develop transaction packets, assemble and archive supporting documentation for each transaction to provide an accurate and defensible audit trail of all MOARNG Environmental transactions. Maintain databases by entering funds obligation information on a weekly basis. Perform quality control procedures to ensure accuracy and reliability of financial data systems. Provides funding and budgetary support to project management involving the planning, programming, and execution of environmental projects. Perform time and attendance for approximately 20 state employees. Maintain liaison with state and federal offices on accounting matters.

Minimum Qualifications - 3-5 years of relevant experience. (Substitutions may be allowed)
- Experience with fiscal and operational policies, preferably in state or federal government
- Advanced knowledge of SAM II Financial and MissouriBuys. Advanced knowledge of accounting principles and practices and ability to apply them to varied accounting transactions.
- Ability to perform detailed work using statistical data and financial data and to create spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel
- Valid State Driver’s License
- Be able to pass a background check
Preferred Qualifications - Knowledge and proficiency in Accounting, Microsoft Access, Excel, Word, 10-key
