    Minimum Qualifications
    This position will be filled at one of the following levels depending upon candidate qualifications:

    Inspector A:
    • Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent plus two (2) years experience in a related field
    • Education may substitute for experience up to two years


    Licenses and Certifications Required:
    • Building Inspectors:

    - Certifications required by Department Career Development Plan
    - Certification/license may be required by trade.

    Inspector B:
    • Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent plus three (3) years of experience in a field related to road and bridge inspection and/or utility construction or building inspections.
    • Education may substitute for experience up to two (2) years.


    Licenses or Certifications:
    • Building Inspectors:
      - Certifications required by Department Career Development Plan
      - Certification/license may be required by trade.


    Inspector C:
    • Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent plus four (4) years of experience in a field related to road and bridge inspection experience and/or utility construction or building inspections.
    • Education may substitute for experience up to two (2) years.


    Licenses or Certifications:
    • Building Inspectors:
      - Certifications required by Department Career Development Plan
      - Valid Texas Class C Driver’s License.
      - Certification/license may be required by trade.

    The Right-of-Way ( ROW ) Inspector is responsible for insuring that all development performed within the public right-of-way is properly permitted for accuracy, completeness and functionality to the approved traffic control plan. This position will work in the field inspecting work zone traffic control for utility, telecommunication, site development and special events projects.

    The ideal candidate must be able to review traffic control plans, schematics, and construction plans and be able to work with the general public to ensure that traffic control plans are followed. This position will require knowledge of interpreting city code and ROW code.

    The successful candidate will work flexible as well as established hours that may include days, evenings and weekends.

    SALARY RANGES :
    Inspector A: $24.08 - $27.93 per hour

    Inspector B: $26.61 - $31.87 per hour

    Inspector C: $28.29 - $34.80 per hour

    • Experience and certification in Temporary Traffic Control and flagging.
    • Ability to review traffic control plans, schematics, and construction plans.
    • Experience in reviewing and understanding complex engineering documents.
    • Experience working with the City Code, TXMUTCD , Criteria Manuals, or Standard Specifications.
    • Must be able to work with contractors, developers, general public, other city departments and law enforcement on code compliance issues and street closures.
    • Excellent written communication skills to prepare reports.
    • Availability to routinely work non-standard hours.
    • Experience in responding to and investigating citizen complaints regarding construction projects, special events and/or road closures.

    City Government
