Full-time position available with the Aviation Department, Airport Police Division located at 1 International Square
Salary Range: $27.25/hour, dependent on qualifications
Normal Work Days/Hours: Placed on shift based on operational need. Mandatory overtime will be required.

Responsibilities
- Provides the care, custody and control of a working police dog.
- Officers work as a team with their assigned canine conducting building, field and article searches.
- Canine officers are visible in the community presenting numerous public demonstrations, work security and fixed post positions during critical incidents and are involved in dignitary protection by performing building and vehicle sweeps and searches.
Qualifications
REQUIRES High school graduation and 2 years experience as a law enforcement officer. Must be at least 21 years of age. Successful completion of a TSA criminal history check, pre-employment drug screen and psychiatric evaluation. Must pass a physical examination and physical abilities test as prescribed by the City, and must be eligible to obtain a special police commission as issued by the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department, Board of Police Commissioners. Must possess a valid state-issued driver's license in accordance with City of KCMO policies. Must possess a P.O.S.T Class A certification.

For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.
If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
