    Position Overview:
    The City of Austin is seeking a dynamic and experienced Performance Consultant to join our Learning, Engagement, and Development ( LEAD ) Office. The LEAD Office is the central hub for continuous growth and development within the City, spearheading strategic initiatives to enhance leadership development, learning, and engagement across the organization. The Performance Consultant role is key to supporting strategic goals, foster a culture of learning that improves employee learning and effectiveness. This position will address complex challenges and build high performing teams that drive engagement, promote collaboration and align with organizational goals.

    Key responsibilities of this position include:
    • Program design and implementation
    • Strategic assessment and alignment
    • Facilitation and coaching
    • Culture building

    Pay Range
    $33.49 - $42.71

    Hours
    Monday to Friday
    8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
    Telework opportunities may be available after an initial training period. Work schedules must be at least 40% hybrid in the office each week and are implemented to meet the requirements of the department and are subject to change based on business needs.

    Preferred Experience:
    • Experience consulting and coaching executives and managers on organizational development, leadership development and change management.
    • Experience designing and facilitating interactive workshops and training sessions.
    • Experience designing, delivering, and administering leadership development programs.
    • Experience conducting organizational needs assessments and developing actionable data informed recommendations.
    Duties, Functions and Responsibilities
    Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.


    Consults with and coaches City and department executives and managers on organizational development and performance issues. Leads large cross-functional performance improvement projects and initiatives. Leads citywide and department specific needs assessments by conducting research to identify organizational development and performance issues and makes recommendations to city leadership for process improvements based on findings. Leads, coaches, or partners with City leadership to address identified development and performance issues. Utilizes project management techniques to develop, design, and implement performance improvement for individual workgroups, departments and Citywide. Develops and designs evaluation plans for organization development and performance interventions. Provides cross functional and citywide internal consulting, facilitation, and coaching services to executives and managers. Gathers data and needs analysis, development of alternatives, and recommendations. Provides facilitation for City leadership by bringing structure to meetings, coaching participants in their roles and responsibilities so as to achieve defined stakeholder outcomes. Assists in resolving business process, employee performance, employee development and teamwork issues.

    City Government

    The City of Austin is a progressive, full-service municipal organization operating under the Council-Manager form of government. Austin has a 10-1 council system with an at-large Mayor and Council Members that represent ten districts.
