This recruitment is only open to current San Bernardino County, San Bernardino County Fire Protection District, or Special Districts employees who hold a regular, contract, extra-help, recurrent, Public Service Employee (PSE), Work Experience Program (WEX) or intern position. Former PSE, WEX, or interns are eligible to apply up to 6 months from the end of their assignment.

The Transitional Assistance Department (TAD) is recruiting for a Regional Manager who will plan, organize and direct activities, and manage staff within administration, a region, or public assistance program such as CalWORKs, CalFresh, Medi-Cal or Welfare-to-Work. A Regional Manager may perform the following duties within administration, an assigned region, or public assistance program: develop and recommend program goals and objectives; participate in goal-setting; formulate and evaluate administrative and operational effectiveness of department-wide policies and procedures; interpret policies and procedures; and explain application of policies and procedures to management and other assigned staff. Participate in development of the annual budget, and preparation for visits from State and Federal auditing and monitoring teams. This list may be used for vacancies as they occur in administration and in the regions.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Pre-Employment Process: Applicants must successfully pass the pre-employment process, which may include fingerprinting, credit check, and/or medical exam, prior to appointment.
Travel: Travel throughout the County may be required. Incumbents will be required to make provision for transportation. A valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced and maintained for the individual providing the transportation.
Sponsorship: Please note San Bernardino County is not able to consider candidates who will require visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future.
Minimum Requirements
Education : Associate's degree or equivalent completed coursework in business/public administration, behavioral/social science, or education. Completion of the Management Leadership Academy (MLA) program in the County of San Bernardino will be accepted toward the required coursework on the basis of four (4) quarter units of credit per MLA track completed . A list of completed college coursework or legible copies of transcripts MUST be submitted with the application if the applicant does not possess an Associate's degree or higher in one of the qualifying fields listed above. Qualifying degrees or coursework must be completed at a college or university accredited by an accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education.

Experience : (Applicant must meet one of the following options)
Option 1: Two (2) years of management or second-level supervisory experience working directly in a CalWORKs, Medi-Cal, CalFresh or Welfare-to-Work program.
-OR-
Option 2: Three (3) years of experience equivalent to a San Bernardino County Program Specialist II or higher, which included primary program development responsibility for the following programs: CalWORKs, Medi-Cal, CalFresh or Welfare-to-Work.
Substitution: A Bachelor's degree in business/public administration, behavioral/social science, education or liberal arts/studies may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience for Option 2 only.
All experience must be attained in a California Department of Social Services to be considered qualifying.
