The position plays a crucial role in the accounts payable process for Colusa County, involving the performance of various accounting and auditing duties across all County Departments and Special Districts. This includes ensuring that all accounts payable transactions are properly managed and compliant with County regulations and budgeting. The role also involves processing journal entries and making corrections related to accounts payable and cash receipts to maintain accurate financial records. These responsibilities ensure the smooth operation of financial processes and contribute to the accuracy and efficiency of the County’s overall financial processes.

Supervision & Examples of DutiesReceives direct supervision from higher level supervisory or management staff.
May exercise functional and technical supervision over lower-level accounting clerical staff.
Qualifications Experience and Training Guidelines - Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience: Four years of progressively responsible clerical accounting or bookkeeping experience.
Training: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized course work in bookkeeping, accounting or a related field.
Supplemental InformationThe salary range above consists of 15 steps. Steps 1-6 are annual merit steps with approximately 5% difference between each step, based on successful performance. Steps 7-15 are additional merit steps, requiring 2 years of satisfactory performance at the previous step. Steps 7-14 provide 2.5% increases, while Step 15 offers a 5% increase. The final salary offered will depend on the applicant's experience and qualifications, ranging from steps 1 to 15.Colusa County offers an excellent benefit package.
