    The Position

    Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.

    Incumbents perform journey level duties and may serve as a lead worker to lower level IT staff as assigned. This is a supervisory level for the Computer Operations function.

    This is an IT position for the District III Field Operations function. This position is in the ITS / Communications crew as a District support and participant of the Traffic Operations Technology Section. The position will be a field technician in Elko and will perform work as a technical professional maintaining the Nevada Shared Public Radio System (NSRS) and the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). Responsible for assisting in the daily operations, maintenance, coordination, and sustainment of various Radio, ITS, and networking systems. Responsibilities of this position also includes being part of a team responsible for field installation, construction, and maintenance of all radio communications sites and ITS sites across District III portion of the state. These responsibilities also require Tower Climbing and Remote mountaintop work. This position is also a Traffic Operations representative and may be called upon to support the other NDOT Divisions for various projects and tasks from time to time and will work closely with external partners at varying levels to ensure communications capabilities are maintained and support the division's efforts with the Transportation System Management & Operations (TSMO) program and initiatives.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and two years of professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, applications analysis and development, and/or information security; OR two years of experience as an IT Professional I in Nevada State service; OR four years of relevant technical experience as an IT Technician IV or above in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.     The presence of Nevada's earliest inhabitants, beginning about 12,400 years ago, is marked by many petroglyphs and archaeological sites. Baskets, decoys, and ingenious traps are evidence of the resourcefulness of these early people in a harsh and arid environment.

In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
