    • Graduation with Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a field related to the job, plus four (4) years of experience in a field related to the job, including two (2) years of which were in a supervisory, project, or program management capacity.

    POSITION OVERVIEW :
    The Occupational Health and Safety Temporary Program Manager II (Construction Safety) will be responsible for assisting in managing safety in commercial construction zones, hence the parenthesis on the major areas of focus for the this role, in order to oversee safety construction sites inspections and industry standards and OSHA requirements.

    Provides oversight for AUS employees, contractors, and vendors performing work on-site.
    Ensures a safe and efficiently operated airport for our employees, construction projects, tenants, and the travelling public at AUS by focusing on the reduction of work-related and airport accidents through continuous monitoring of the environment.
    This position also ensures compliance with the applicable safety and health rules, procedures, regulations and practices of the aviation department, city, state and federal agencies to include OSHA and ANSI .
    Conducts accident and incident investigations to determine root causes.
    Develop and implement complex safety programs to include inspecting and reviewing areas of the airport, equipment, processes and work activities; coordinate and conduct safety inspections, construction site visits, investigations, and occupational safety activities with Aviation divisions. Advise and make recommendations for workplace and airport safety hazards.
    Implement safety standards to conform to industry standards and federal, state, and local requirements.
    Collaborate with airport stakeholders such as tenants, federal agencies and airlines.

    Communicate safety related information such as best practices and trends to management and department employees.
    Monitor activities of building contractors.

    Interprets, explains, and enforces City policies and procedures.

    Physical requirements:

    Moderate bending, lifting, walking, carrying, climbing ladders.

    ASSESSMENT :

    A skills assessment will be required for this position.

    DRIVING REQUIREMENT

    This position must travel between various locations as part of the regular job duties and the individual will be required to drive a City vehicle. Position will also be required to drive on the AOA .

    This position requires a State of Texas Class “C” Drivers License or the ability to acquire one by your hire date. External New Hires must meet the City of Austin’s Driver Record Evaluation ( DRE ) requisite . To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty-six (36) months. Job Offer is contingent on having a driving record that meets the City’s Driver Record Evaluation Standards.

    ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL :

    This position is categorized as an Essential Personnel. Essential personnel are required to come to work during emergencies or bad weather at the airport if they are scheduled to work and in some cases when they are not scheduled.

    Top candidate will be subject to a minimum 10 year criminal background check and security threat assessment.

    OVERTIME :

    Duties, Functions and Responsibilities

Interacts with internal and external customers. Investigates and responds to inquiries from the public and other departments. Attends meetings and conducts presentations Board and Commissions, City Council Committees, City Council, and other related agencies.
