    Hiring Range: $81,120 to $102,815 annually, depending on qualifications

    The Deputy Library System Officer is responsible for planning, implementing, and managing a comprehensive service program for library customers. This professional and supervisory role focuses primarily on programming, financial administration, and serves as the liaison with foundation and friends library boards.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Manages and directs assigned teams, developing goals and procedures while demonstrating a strong commitment to public service.
    • Leads the development of operating budgets, oversees day to day financial administration, library programming, and liaison to boards.
    • Acts as a liaison between the library and the community, participating in organizations and events; staff may also represent the library externally.
    • Assists the Library Service Officer with the safety, security, maintenance, and improvement of library buildings and grounds, and assumes responsibilities when needed.


    Qualifications

    Experience: Five or more years of experience in program development and three or more years in a supervisory position are required.Knowledge of management theory and practices, along with demonstrated skills and judgement in management and problem-solving, is necessary. The ideal candidate should be a self-starter capable of performing at a high level with minimal supervision and demonstrate a willingness to adapt to changing user needs. Flexibility in the work schedule may be required depending on the library’s needs.Experience working in a Library or education management role is preferred.

    Education: A bachelor’s degree in library science, history, education, literature or other related field is required. A master's degree in library science or other related field is preferred. Equivalent additional experience may be substituted for education.

    Licenses & Certifications: A valid driver’s license and a favorable driving record are required.

    Language: Proficiency in verbal and written English language is required, along with strong communication and interpersonal skills to develop effective working relationships with supervisors, staff, the community, and the public.
