    The selected candidate(s) may be eligible for the following recruitment incentives:
    • Up to $6,000 to be paid in equal installments for the first twenty-six (26) consecutive biweekly pay periods in the position.
    • A fixed amount of additional vacation leave to be accrued in equal installments in each of the first twenty-six (26) consecutive biweekly pay periods of employment.
    • Up to $6,000 relocation expense reimbursement for moving expenses for the candidate’s household, including pets, when the candidate's primary residence is more than one hundred (100) miles from the assigned work location using the shortest commonly traveled route.

    PUBLIC HEALTH, CALIFORNIA CHILDREN'S SERVICES
    The California Children's Services Program is a mandatory County service as stipulated in Health and Safety Code starting with Section 123845 of which physical and occupational services are included as described in Government Code starting with Section 7570. T herapist applies intervention in a clinical setting, monitoring and education to families carrying out in-home home therapy and general case management of those children in collaboration with various medical specialty centers. Develops and initiates client specific treatment plans, participate in local education IEPs, conducts in home functional assessments, assesses and fabricates applications for functional adaptation, creates and maintains intervention records, input and retrieve health care reports in a designated EMR. May participate in telehealth video encounters. The California Children's Services (CCS) Medical Therapy Team (MTP) consists of Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapists and a Medical Office Assistant (MOA) that work off site from the Public Health Department at Medical Therapy Units (MTU's). Our team also consists of CCS Public Health Nurses (PHN's) who are located at the Public Health Division. This Occupational Therapist will travel between our two MTU's on the Western Slope: Rolling Hills MTU in El Dorado Hills and Winne Wakeley MTU in Camino.

    THE OPPORTUNITY
    The Occupational Therapist will have the opportunity to plan, perform and direct occupational therapy for handicapped persons, primarily children, and participate as a team member with physicians, physical therapists, parents and others in furthering the development of the child's daily living habits.

    The selected candidate will have the opportunity to:
    • Recommend constructive activities suited to patient's physical capacity, intelligence level, interest and desired results.
    • Instruct patients in creative arts, educational subjects, prevocational subjects and recreational activities.
    • Instruct patients in methods of accomplishing daily living habits; help them learn to feed themselves, use bathroom facilities, dress, bathe, write, play and interact with their peers and adults.
    • Conduct individual and group sessions to help children feel less restricted in their environment; to learn additional leisure time activities, to learn how to cook, do laundry and take care of themselves.
    • Determine need for and fit of adaptive equipment, such as wheelchairs, adaptive inserts, braces and splints; provides adaptive equipment selection, fabrication and maintenance.
    • Observe and make verbal and written documentation of patient progress.
    • Assist in educating school personnel, public health personnel and other interested groups in order to understand and cooperate in the physical and psychological objectives of occupational therapy treatments.

    Experience:
    One year of credentialed experience performing occupational therapy with children.

    Other Requirements: Must possess a valid driver's license. Must possess a valid certificate from the National Registry of the American Occupational Therapy Association.

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
    The County of El Dorado is recruiting applicants for Occupational Therapist. This recruitment will establish a list for the purpose of filling current and future part time vacancies in Placerville for at least three (3) months . We currently have the following vacancies :

    • One (1) part-time vacancy in the Health and Human Services Agency, located in El Dorado Hills, CA. This part-time position of 64 hours/biweekly is available for a licensed OT who loves working with physically disabled children, ages 0-21 years old. Under the general supervision of the Supervising Therapist, This OT will be responsible for evaluating the special needs of handicapped children who are medically eligible for the MTP, and collaborating with parent/caregivers and other health care providers in order to establish OT programs to assist the child's development.
