    The Position

    Management Analysts conduct a variety of studies, research and analysis of management and administrative areas such as budgeting and financial analysis; departmental operations; legislative analysis; management research; and statistical and informational analysis.

    Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action. The Nevada Department of Veterans Services (NDVS) is recruiting for a Management Analyst 3. The position is geographically located in Reno, Nevada at NDVS Headquarters.

    Under the direction of the Executive Officer, this position will work closely with NDVS Director and Deputy Directors to ensure successful execution of the Department's strategic development plan. Development plan includes expansion of services to Nevada active-duty members who are transitioning to civilian life; expansion of services in education, healthcare, housing, employment, transportation, financial and legal assistance, end-of life, and skilled nursing care. The incumbent will conduct cost analysis and develop operational and financial strategies for the growth of these services and programs to Nevada veterans and active-duty service members. Duties include cost benefit analysis of all sub-contracted services for conversion to state operations and positions; fiscal analysis for veterans home CIP projects; analysis for new programs in Nevada rural ears which consist of conception of domiciliary care and veterans adult day care; conduct monthly financial analysis of each unit within the department and propose solutions for maximum budget efficiency; and perform other duties as assigned. To adequately perform all these duties, the candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills, intimate knowledge of the State of Nevada's budgeting process, flexibility to change priorities instantly, and embrace change champion philosophies.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public or business administration, finance, social sciences, mathematics or related field and three years of professional experience in the research, development, evaluation or revision of programs, organizations, methods or procedures; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public or business administration, finance, social sciences, mathematics or related field and three years of professional experience which included budgeting, accounting, and/or economic or management analysis and projections; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and five years of professional experience as described above; OR one year of experience as a Management Analyst II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. This position requires a State of Nevada/FBI fingerprint-based background check as a condition of appointment and as condition of continuing employment.     The presence of Nevada's earliest inhabitants, beginning about 12,400 years ago, is marked by many petroglyphs and archaeological sites. Baskets, decoys, and ingenious traps are evidence of the resourcefulness of these early people in a harsh and arid environment.

On October 31, 1864, President Lincoln proclaimed Nevada's admission to the Union as the 36th state. The State's first elected Governor, Henry Blasdel, took office on December 5, 1864.

    Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
