    Minimum Qualifications
    Education and/or Equivalent Experience:
    • Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, plus five (5) years related experience, including two (2) years of experience in personnel, project, program, or portfolio management.
    • Graduation with a Master’s degree may substitute for experience up to two (2) years.
    • Experience may substitute for education up to four (4) years.
    • Industry certifications may be considered as substitution for education.

    The Cybersecurity Architect Sr. promotes and supports the City’s Information Security Program, Privacy Program, Risk Management Program, and their missions by managing the Cybersecurity Operations Team within Austin Energy’s Enterprise Information Security department. The architect supports the department’s information security and risk management functions by supervising staff, including their programs and the associated quality management, performance management, and continuous improvement activities in support of the citywide programs. This position will supervise the Cybersecurity Operations team and oversee the following functions belonging to them: Incident Response, Privileged Access Management, PKI and our Microsoft Cybersecurity MSP .

    If you are selected for this position and meet the Driver Safety Standards in the City of Austin Driver Safety Program , you may drive when necessary to multiple locations as part of your regular job duties. Otherwise, you are responsible for getting to and from these locations.

    ESSENTIAL :
    This has been designated as an Essential Employee position. In the event of a city-designated emergency, Essential Employees provide services that impact the public health, safety, utility services, and welfare of members of the Austin community and other employees and ensure the continuity of essential operations. In such an emergency, Essential Employees may be called back in, may be required to modify their schedule, may be assigned to a city-designated work site, or may be retained on site to assist with operations and recovery.
    Pay Range
    $52.25 - $67.93 per hour

    • Monday through Friday
    • 40-hour work week with schedule flexibility supporting 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. activity.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience managing a Cybersecurity function for an organization.
    • Experience with Incidence Response and leading an Incident Response Tabletop Exercise.
    • Experience with Privileged Access Management / CyberArk.
    • Experience with Private and Public Key Infrastructure ( PKI ) - MS CA.
    • Experience with Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Sentinel, and Microsoft Active Directory Security.
    • Experience with Splunk.
    • Experience with Windows, Linux, Networking, Cloud, and VM environments.
    • Experience with the Azure cloud environment.


    Other:
    • Ability to travel to more than one work location.
    Duties, Functions and Responsibilities
    Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.

    Serves as lead enterprise security and/or privacy architect to implement enterprise security and/or privacy architecture practices and principles. Works with business partners, IT enterprise architects, and other security and privacy architects to develop and document strategic information security and/or privacy roadmaps. Directs a security and/or privacy architecture team to identify and analyze business needs for future innovative technology, develops solutions architecture requirements, and determines potential impact of technology solutions. Approves changes to work methods and procedures. Ensures information security and/or privacy governance structure and compliance activities are in place to allow multi-stakeholder participation and agreement in finding solutions. Leads and facilitates the creation of information security and/or privacy governing principles to guide solution decision-making. Leads and coordinates the identification of technical business assurance needs, governing principles, and security solution architecture viewpoints. Develops long-term partnerships with department business units and vendors to facilitate collaboration in strategic plans. Establishes strategic goals that support department or citywide objectives by gathering pertinent business, financial, service, and operations information; identifying and evaluating trends and options; choosing a course of action; defining objectives; and evaluating outcomes. Creates and manages operational budgets for short- and long-term projects, programs, and contracts. As portfolio manager, manages assigned programs, contracts, operations, and associated service providers. Facilitates and leads working groups and steering committees on related technologies and programs.
