The salary range for this position is
$27.47- $38.46 per hour with a hiring range of
$27.47 - $32.97, depending on qualifications and experience.

The City of Loveland Golf Division is comprised of two eighteen-hole layouts (Mariana Butte & The Olde Course), a nine hole par 3 (Cattail Creek), and nine holes of SNAG friendly beginner golf. Essential Functions: - Ensures safe and attractive grounds by managing and documenting a comprehensive training and safety program.
- Assists Irrigation Specialist in system installations, design upgrades and pump station operation and maintenance.
- Completes tasks through the safe and proper use of various tools and equipment.
- Maintains healthy turf by diagnosing problems and taking corrective action.
- Makes the most effective use of time and resources by planning and scheduling own work and work of other full-time and part-time employees, as requested by supervisor.
- Explores new techniques to conserve and manage resources.
- Works as an effective leader of a maintenance team by responding to change in a positive manner and takes initiative to resolve conflicts independently.
- Maintains records required by Colorado Department of Agriculture for fertilizer and chemical applications.
- Performs or assists with employee evaluations.
- Maintains dialogue and professional relationships with the public, special interest groups, and City staff.
- Hires, Trains, and supervises temporary staff.
Other Job Functions: - Provides support and assistance to other Divisions or Sections of the Department, as needed relating to golf maintenance and operations.
- May assume duties of Golf Superintendent if needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Level and Management Expectations: Supervisor for Temporary and Limited Benefitted Employees: - May monitor day-to-day operations. May provide direction to direct reports following standard practices and procedures.
- May oversee tactical operations of support or trade employees.
- May make recommendations regarding personnel decisions related to hiring, performance, or disciplinary actions.

Qualifications: Education: - Associates Degree in Horticulture, Turf Grass Management, Turf Science or related field required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Turfgrass or related field preferred.
Experience: - 2 years golf course turf management experience required.
- 2 years s upervisory experience or training, experience in pesticide and fertilizer application, diagnosing vegetation and disease problems, equipment operation, record keeping, training staff, and landscape maintenance preferred.
An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may substitute for education requirements on a year for year basis. Certifications: - Motor Vehicle Driver's License is required.
- Colorado Department of Agriculture Pesticide Applicator’s License in Turf and Aquatic Pest Control required, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, CPR/First Aid Certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - Must comprehend and follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively, in writing and orally, with a variety of people either directly or indirectly by using a telephone, cell phone and/or computer.
- Effectively and efficiently organize, schedule, and supervise a large team.
- Must have a working knowledge of plant physiology, soil science, and irrigation design.
- Diagnose vegetation and disease problems and implement corrective action as a licensed pesticide applicator in appropriate categories.
- Do strenuous physical work in all weather conditions.
- Safely, effectively, and efficiently operate all tools and equipment with the ability to train others.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and skills associated with general computer use in management.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions: - Frequent m oderate to considerable physical effort that includes working from ladders in awkward positions. Frequent use of light or medium weight objects (e.g., 25-50 lbs) and use of medium weight tools.
- Frequent e xposure to heat and noise along with working outside in the elements.
- Occasional e xposure to hazards that are predictable or well protected against.
