Why you’ll love this position:The registered nurse specialist serves as subject matter expertise for infection prevention and control (IPC) practices across all healthcare settings in the state of Missouri. This includes reviewing and providing guidance for clinical IPC best practices. The registered nurse specialist - infection prevention also focuses on assisting with epidemiologic surveillance related activities to detect, monitor, mitigate, respond, and prevent the spread of communicable diseases, healthcare-associated infections (HAIs), and antimicrobial resistance, including multidrug-resistant organisms (MDROs) and Candida auris in all healthcare settings.
- Serve as subject matter expertise for IPC practices to be a readily available resource for all healthcare settings within the state for providing education and recommendations that assist facilities with getting up-to-date with national IPC guidelines and best practices.
- Provide effective initial consultation with healthcare facilities, including the evaluation of transmission risks, for any healthcare facility reporting a concern for multidrug-resistant organisms (MDROs), suscepted cluster/outbreaks, or infection control breaches
- Provide technical guidance for IPC practices in healthcare settings during active cases or outbreaks infections of HAIs and MDROs.
- Conduct and oversee onsite infection control assessments to assist healthcare facilities with identifying potential opportunities for improvement in IPC practices and provide ongoing assistance (onsite or remote) until identified opportunities have been addressed.
- Serve as CDC Project Firstline Lead and program liaison for ongoing collaborations and activities required through awarded federal grant opportunities.
Minimum Qualifications: - Active Registered Nurse (RN) license within the State of Missouri and at least 2-4 years of clinical RN experience within healthcare settings.
- Direct experience should also include job duties as a clinical infection preventionist with current Certification in Infection Control (CIC), or willingness to pursue certification within 1 year of hire.
- Must have demonstrated competency with common productivity software (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- This position also requires strong verbal and written communication skills in order to be effective.
- Willingness to travel, in accordance with established travel policies.
