    The Job

    The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department is recruiting for Motor Pool Services Assistants who, under general supervision, inspect and test drive automotive vehicles, evaluate drivability, make minor repairs and adjustments, perform required maintenance, and perform related duties.

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

    1) Background: Prior to appointment, applicants will be fingerprinted and must pass an extensive background investigation, including a polygraph examination. Applicants must not have been convicted of a felony.
    2) Shift: The jail facilities operate 24/7, and require maintenance any time of the day or night; therefore, the ideal candidate is available to work days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call.
    3) License: Travel throughout the County will be required. A valid California Class C driver license is required at time of appointment.
    4) Sponsorship: Please note San Bernardino County is not able to consider candidates who will require visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future.

    Minimum Requirements

    Experience: Six (6) months of full-time equivalent paid work experience making minor repairs on automotive equipment. (Minor repairs generally include replacement and maintenance of batteries, cables, tires, fluid levels, etc.).

    Desired Qualifications

    The ideal candidate will have the ability to work all shifts and days, including overtime, as needed, with the understanding that the Sheriff's Department is a "24/7" operation. Commercial Driver's License is desirable.
