    Position Description

    The City of Fresno PARCS Department is looking for temporary part-time employees to support the Sports, Play, Active Recreation for Kids (SPARK) after-school program at various Fresno Unified School District After School Education and Safety (ASES) sites by instructing rotations of K-8 students in physical education activities. The ideal candidate should be dynamic, energetic, passionate, and have strong classroom management skills.

    Under supervision, Services Aides will perform any of the following duties:
    - Assist the onsite FUSD and Community-based vendors with a variety of basic tasks- duties will vary according to job assignment.
    - Set up and facilitate physical education curriculum in small rotations as a vital employee in FUSD After School programming.
    - Assist with daily tasks required at an After School ASES site i.e. check in students, supervise snack time, provide homework support, engage students, behavioral management, etc.;
    - Independently instruct students in various arts, crafts, games, and physical activity;
    - Assist in the enforcement of rules, regulations, and safety protocols at a FUSD school site.
    - Recognize, avoid, and report unsafe acts, conditions, accidents, and injuries, and complete documentation in compliance with FUSD and City of Fresno policies and procedures.
    - Maintain equipment in a clean and safe condition and in compliance with FUSD and City policies, procedures, and regulations.
    - Support the relationship between the City of Fresno and Fresno Unified School District by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with school staff, visitors, and other City staff.
    - Perform other duties as required or assigned.

    Pay,Benefits, & Work Schedule

    Pay Rate: $19.50
    Schedule: 2:00 - 6:00 PM or 2:30 - 6:00 PM Monday through Friday

    Pursuant to the City of Fresno Charter, temporary employment shall not exceed 2,080 hours within 2 fiscal years; and may not exceed 29 working hours per week.
    These are temporary employment opportunities that do not provide health benefits, or retirement and are not in any way a guarantee of permanent employment.

    The Requirements

    One of the following requirements must be met:

    1. Two years of study at an institution of higher education (48 college units), OR
    3. Documentation of NCLB (No Child Left Behind) compliance consistent with established minimum NCLB qualifications for paraprofessionals employed in Title I, Part A-funded schools.

    If qualifying with a degree or accredited college or university credits, please attach a copy of the degree or transcripts. If qualifying with NCLB, please attach a copy. Applications lacking this documentation may be rejected.

    Selection Process

    Applicants that meet the minimum qualifications will be referred to the hiring department for further consideration.
