    Job Summary

    Salary:

    Vehicle-For-Hire Officer I: $20.28- $25.86

    Vehicle-For-Hire Officer II: $21.41- $27.305

    Vehicle-For-Hire Officer III: $22.61- $28.83

    Performs responsible enforcement work and office duties ensuring compliance with applicable City of Orlando codes, ordinances, and regulations. Assigned to the Airport Division under the Deputy Division Commander of the Orlando Police Department (OPD) and is responsible for enforcing Chapter 55 dealing with taxicabs and other "vehicles for hire." Work is performed independently. During inspections, the employee is expected to make sound decisions utilizing their judgment and discretion. Results are reviewed through conferences and examination of completed documents.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Vehicle-For-Hire Officer I : High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate with six (6) months to one (1) year experience in the enforcement of policies, codes, or ordinances, or conducting field inspections; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Driver's License required. Must pass police background investigation which includes polygraph.

    Vehicle-For-Hire Officer II: High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate with two to three (2-3) years experience in the enforcement of policies, codes, or ordinances, or conducting field inspections; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Driver's License required. Must pass police background investigation which includes polygraph.

    Vehicle-For-Hire Officer III : High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate with four (4) more years experience in the enforcement of policies, codes, or ordinances, or conducting field inspections; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Driver's License required. Must pass police background investigation which includes polygraph.

    If this posting indicates a degree is required, the following experience will apply in lieu of any degree as follows:
    • Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
    • Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
    • Six (6) years of direct experience for a master's degree; or
    • Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree.
