The Employment and Human Services Department is currently accepting applications to fill one (1) vacancy for the Departmental Fiscal Officer.

What you will typically be responsible for:- Planning and coordinating departmental budgets, including preparing forecasts and monitoring expenditures against projections
- Analyzing financial data to identify trends, ensure compliance with regulations, and recommend corrective actions
- Preparing and presenting clear and concise financial reports and recommendations to leadership
- Managing fiscal requirements for contracts, grants, and capital projects, including budgeting, monitoring, and reporting
- Supervising accounting and financial staff to ensure accurate and efficient operations
- Collaborating with other departments, external agencies, and auditors on fiscal matters
- Developing and implementing automated tools and templates for improved fiscal management
- Monitoring and evaluating revenues and expenditures, ensuring alignment with budgetary goals

Minimum QualificationsEducation: Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with a major in business administration, public administration, accounting, economics, finance, or a closely related field.
Experience: Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in a managerial or an accounting position performing fiscal or budgetary analysis, at least two years of which must have included responsibility for budget preparations and control.
Desirable Qualifications:- Master’s degree in business administration, public administration, accounting, or finance
- Certification as a CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CMA (Certified Management Accountant)
- Experience with government budgeting and financial systems
- Proficiency in using automated fiscal management systems and software
- Proven experience managing fiscal aspects of grants or large capital projects
- Knowledge of public-sector auditing practices and requirements.
- Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams and building consensus
Selection Process1. Application Filing and Evaluation: Applicants will be required to complete a supplemental questionnaire at the time of application. Applications will be evaluated to determine which candidates will move forward in the next phase of the recruitment process.
2. Online Virtual Interview : Candidates who possess the minimum qualifications will be invited to participate in an online interview. In the oral interview, candidates must achieve an average passing score of 70% or higher on each of the oral interview competencies, as well as an overall passing score of 70% or higher. The interview will measure candidates' competencies as they relate to the Departmental Fiscal Officer position. These may include, but are not limited to: Analyzing & Interpreting Data, Delivering Results, Innovative Problem Solving, Displaying Ownership and Accountability, Professional Integrity & Ethics, Informing, Building & Maintaining Relationships, and/or Leadership
(Weighted 100%) The online interview will be administered remotely using a computer or mobile device such as a tablet. You will need access to a reliable internet connection to participate in the online interview, as well as a computer or mobile device with a camera.
