The Job
The Clerk of the Board of Supervisors is recruiting for a Board Services Specialist who will perform complex administrative work in support of the various programs operated by the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors. Duties require understanding and communication of policies, guidelines, and legal requirements to County staff and the public. Positions exercise considerable independent judgment in the investigation and resolution of exceptional situations and recommend changes in procedures to improve operating efficiency or service delivery.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Pre-employment Process: Applicants must pass a background investigation, which includes fingerprinting, credit check, and/or medical exam, prior to appointment. For the Probation and Sheriff's Departments, positions require extensive background investigations, including polygraph testing. If you are interested in these departments, indicate your availability on the Supplemental Questionnaire.

Minimum Requirements
Experience: Two (2) years of full-time equivalent complex clerical tasks in an office environment. Experience must be comparable to duties performed by a clerical lead worker and/or supervisor, fiscal assistant, or other office work which is non-routine in nature and requires exercising independent decision making.
Experience must be clearly described on the application and must include performing a variety of clerical tasks including public contact and computer usage.
Qualifying experience is typically equivalent to the San Bernardino County Office Assistant III classification and above.
NOTE: Food Service and retail sales is not considered qualifying.
Desired Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be a team player with exceptional customer services skills, a strong work ethic, excellent communications skills, the ability to interact positively and work effectively with others, maintain a positive and professional attitude, as well as strong computer skills, including experience with Word and Excel. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have experience assisting with preparing meeting agendas and recording actions for a County Board of Supervisors, City Council, or comparable hearing body.
