DAY CAMP SUPERVISORDepartment: Parks and RecreationPay Grade: Temporary Pay TableFLSA Status: Non-ExemptPersonnel Status: Temporary Part Time JOB SUMMARY This position is responsible for planning, organizing, implementing, and supervising the daily operation of day camp. This position reports to the position who oversees the assigned camp.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS - Plans, organizes, and supervises day camp recreational programming involving a combination of educational, recreational, and social activities.
- Supervises and develops work schedules for employees and volunteers.
- Monitors the daily activities of the children in day camp.
- Performs customer service duties with the parents of children in day camp.
- Plans special events, coordinating as needed with various Parks and Recreation personnel, as well as individuals and groups outside the Parks and Recreation Department.
- Performs other related job duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent; six (6) months’ experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Qualifications: - Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. Requirement exists at the time of hire and as a condition of continued employment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - Knowledge of youth programs, functions and activities associated with parks and recreation.
- Knowledge of all safety requirements involved in youth activities.
- Knowledge of day camp guidelines established by the City of Auburn Parks and Recreation Department.
- Knowledge of department and Recreation Center rules and regulations;
- Knowledge of safety principles and procedures involved in recreational programs or events;
- Knowledge of local government operations, policies and plans, and modern office practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other similar programs.
- Skill in using computers for data entry, word processing, and/or accounting purposes.
- Skill in the use of small office equipment, including calculators, copy machines or multi-line telephone systems.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS The work is light work, which requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects. Work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, bending, crouching or walking. The employee uses tools or equipment requiring manual dexterity, distinguishes between shades of color, and utilizes the sense of smell.
WORK ENVIRONMENT The work is typically performed in an indoor and outdoor recreation environment. The employee is exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, and irritating chemicals. The work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, gloves, etc.
