Job Location: Division of Professional Registration, Office of Athletics, 3605 Missouri Blvd, Jefferson City, Missouri 65109.
Athletic events are generally in the evenings and on weekends, generally Friday and Saturday. Events occur throughout the state and inspectors generally work events that are in their geographic areas however some travel may be required. We are currently searching for candidates specifically in the following locations: St. Louis, Kansas City, Springfield, Cape Girardeau, and Joplin. These are non-benefit eligible positions.

You will be responsible for implementing licensure and reporting of activities of the Office of Athletics; ensuring compliance with the rules and regulations affecting contestant, seconds, promoters, matchmakers, referees, judges, timekeepers and physicians of boxing, wrestling, martial arts, mixed martial arts, kickboxing and full-contact karate events. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Executive Director or other designated administrative supervisor, however, the employee exercises independence and initiative in the performance of assigned responsibilities.
- Participate in the statewide inspection of boxing, wrestling, martial arts, mixed martial arts, kickboxing and full-contact karate events for compliance with requirements for submission of license fees, collection of taxes, attend events and verify receipt of revenue and ensure the safety of contestants by inspection of locker rooms, fighting area, contestants, hand-wraps and the application of gloves.
- Enforce rules governing, hand-wraps, gloves weights and types of substances, and approved/required equipment and supplies that must be in the corner; the conduct of seconds and contestants in the dressing rooms and corner ring/cage side; stopping fights; anti-doping test administration.
- Review applications on site to ensure compliance with state rules and regulations and verification of information, contact promoter to ensure receipt of tax revenue; collect license fees.
- Review blood test results to determine if test results are negative
- Observe, assimilate and react to a variety of complex situations.
- Work in a highly stressful environment with other team members with a known deadline.
- Remain impartial when interacting with a promoter, contestant, or second.
- Explain compliance requirements for events regulated by the Office of Athletics to contestants, seconds, promoters, officials and the general public while maintaining the highest level of safety and integrity.
- Be able to exhibit a demeanor of control of a dressing room area and the activities of the seconds and contestants ring/cage side.
- Evaluate and suggest changes to the Executive Director for changes to improve program policies, procedures and inspection activities.
What we are looking for: Minimum Qualifications - High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to communicate effectively and to prepare clear and concise reports.
- Knowledge of computer applications such as Adobe Acrobat Pro, Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
