ABOUT THE JOB:The Endpoint Administrator Sr. plays a critical role in ensuring the seamless operation, security, and optimization of Deschutes County’s endpoint devices, which include desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and IoTs. This position involves a blend of technical expertise and strategic alignment, requiring the incumbent to manage endpoint device baselines, deploy and maintain configurations, and ensure compliance with enterprise-wide IT standards and security protocols. In addition to technical responsibilities, the role includes collaboration with cross-functional teams to integrate endpoint management with organizational policies and infrastructure, supporting the County’s broader IT initiatives.
This senior-level role demands a deep understanding of endpoint management tools such as: Microsoft Endpoint Manager, Intune, and JAMF, along with advanced skills in scripting, troubleshooting, and security implementation. The Endpoint Administrator Sr. must also stay abreast of emerging technologies and best practices to continuously enhance the County’s IT capabilities. Additionally, this position will lead projects and participate in business continuity and disaster recovery efforts. With occasional after-hours work to address critical IT needs, this role is both dynamic and essential to maintaining the County’s technology ecosystem.
This position is located in Deschutes County and may be eligible for hybrid of in-office/remote work as allowed by policy and approved by the supervisor.
Key Responsibilities: - Endpoint Management and Optimization - Administer and maintain endpoint devices, including desktops, laptops, mobile devices, peripheral equipment, and IoTs, ensuring they are configured, updated, and optimized for performance and security. Leverage tools such as Microsoft Endpoint Manager, Intune, and JAMF to deploy configurations, updates, applications, and policies.
- Security Implementation and Compliance - Implement and manage endpoint security protocols, including antivirus, encryption, updates, and patch management, to protect devices and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify vulnerabilities and optimize device performance.
- Technical Support and Collaboration - Provide advanced technical support and training to end-users and technical staff. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate endpoint management with enterprise-wide IT strategies, ensuring seamless operation and alignment with organizational goals.
What You Will Bring: Knowledge of or experience with:
- Enterprise Endpoint Management - Demonstrated experience configuring and managing enterprise desktop management systems such as: Microsoft Endpoint Manager, Intune, JAMF, and SCCM, including creating and deploying configurations, updates, and security policies.
- Endpoint Security and Compliance - Proficiency in implementing and managing endpoint security practices, including antivirus software, encryption, patch management, and compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Active Directory and Networking Fundamentals - Solid knowledge of maintaining Active Directory and Entra AD (Azure AD) in support of endpoint management, along with a foundational understanding of networking protocols and IT service management frameworks like ITIL.

Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field;
- AND four (4) years of experience supporting and managing endpoint devices;
- OR any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Preferred Qualifications: - Advanced Certification - Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate, Microsoft Certified: Endpoint Administrator, CompTIA Security+, or JAMF Certified Administrator.
- Experience with Emerging Technologies - Familiarity with cutting-edge endpoint management technologies or trends, such as zero-touch deployment or integration with IoT ecosystems.
- Advanced Troubleshooting and Diagnostics - Expertise in advanced diagnostic tools or methodologies for complex endpoint issues, particularly in a large, distributed enterprise environment.
- Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) Expertise - Hands-on experience managing enterprise mobility solutions and policies, including BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) programs and device enrollment.
- IT Governance and Compliance - Knowledge of frameworks such as NIST Cybersecurity Framework, CIS Controls, or other regulatory standards that enhance endpoint compliance and security.
- Multi-Environment Integration - Experience integrating endpoint devices and systems across hybrid cloud and on-premise environments, ensuring seamless operation and security.
Necessary Special RequirementsThe employment offer will be contingent upon pre-employment screening for criminal history and controlled substances (NOTE: Positive test results for marijuana use may result in rescission of a contingent offer of employment). - CJIS Certification - The certification process, including training and examination, will be conducted and paid for by Deschutes County following the candidate’s hire.
