    The Executive Administrative Assistant (EAA) may reportdirectly to an Assistant General Manager , the Executive Officer, or the General Manager ; performs support functions; and exercises considerable independent judgment in organizing, coordinating, and performing administrative tasks. The EAA maintains strict confidentiality of information; reviews and routes incoming correspondence to department staff or agency; drafts and edits written correspondence; makes travel arrangements and prepares all travel-related documents; interprets policies, procedures, and regulations; reviews and analyzes the City Charter, Mayor's Executive Directives, Administrative Code, and Municipal Code.

    REQUIREMENT/MINIMUM QUALIFICATION

    Two years of full-time paid experience in a class at the level of Secretary performing all of the following secretarial work: routing calls to the appropriate person or location; maintaining appointment calendars; arranging appointments and meetings; preparing for and setting up meetings; taking minutes of meetings; reviewing and editing documents; reading, routing, and tracking incoming and outgoing correspondence, and composing routine correspondence.

    Emergency Appointment

    An emergency appointment is not a regular appointment. It is a temporary appointment which does not require that you successfully compete in the Civil Service examination process. The appointment may not exceed one year and must be terminated immediately when a regular appointment can be made from an eligible list. No emergency appointment can exceed one year. (City Charter Section 1013).
