The Position
Program Officers administer a program or major component of a program by planning, coordinating and managing services and activities in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements and established program performance standards and objectives.
Incumbents administer one or more programs or a major component of a large, complex program which affects a more targeted number of customers or clients; revise, recommend, and implement changes to work plans, program performance standards and objectives for providing services, and eligibility requirements.
This Program Officer II position is located in the Carson City DMV office within the Administrative Services Division. The incumbent is primarily responsible for coordinating, developing, and managing contracts for the Department. The incumbent will be responsible for the timely replacement of contracts, contract amendments, providing forecasting for contract expenditures to be included in the biennial budget, approval of contract expenditures, and processing Master Service Agreements. The Program Officer II will act as the contract liaison to vendors, State Agencies, and DMV Staff. Under the authority of NRS 239B.010.1(b), the DMV utilizes NRS 205.4605 - 205.810, NRS 293.504, NRS 293.5045, 6 CFR 37.45, 49 CFR 1572.103, and 49 CFR 384.228 as criteria to obtain a FBI fingerprint clearance check on current and prospective employees. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration, or other discipline related to the program assignment and one year of professional experience in planning, coordinating and administering a program which included interpretation of laws and regulations; development of program policy and procedures; development and implementation of program performance standards and objectives for providing services; and development and implementation of eligibility requirements; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of professional experience as described above; OR one year of experience as a Program Officer I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. Show moreThe presence of Nevada's earliest inhabitants, beginning about 12,400 years ago, is marked by many petroglyphs and archaeological sites. Baskets, decoys, and ingenious traps are evidence of the resourcefulness of these early people in a harsh and arid environment.
European explorers traveled through Nevada in the early 19th century, but it was not until 1851 that the first settlements were established. An Act of Congress created the Territory of Nevada on March 2, 1861. James W. Nye of New York was appointed Nevada's first Territorial Governor by President Abraham Lincoln later that year. On October 31, 1864, President Lincoln proclaimed Nevada's admission to the Union as the 36th state. The State's first elected Governor, Henry Blasdel, took office on December 5, 1864.
Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
The Nevada Legislature has honored the State's natural resources and cultural heritage with a variety of State designations described below.
