    Pay Range: $47,632 - $59,539 annual compensation

    Workdays & Hours: This location operates 24 hours a day and 365 days per year. You must be willing and able to work a 3rd shift schedule. This work shift consists of variable hours including weekends, holidays, and overnights, as needed.

    An Airport Operations Officer job is available with the City of Fort Worth Aviation Dept. at Meacham International Airport. The City of Fort Worth Aviation system is home to three world-class airports - Meacham International Airport, Spinks Airport and Perot Field Fort Worth Alliance Airport. Both Meacham International and Spinks Airports provide regional aviation services for air charter, corporate, business and recreational flyers. Perot Field Fort Worth Alliance Airport provides cargo carrier services. The airports feature full-service fuelers, multiple maintenance facilities, flight schools, on-site rental car facilities, and hotel facilities only minutes away. The City of Fort Worth Aviation Department is essential to the economic well-being and commerce taking place in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Associate Degree from an accredited college with major course work in Aviation Management, or related field.
    • No prior experience required
    • Successful completion of Airport Operations Officer training within the initial 6-month probationary period.
    • Valid Driver’s License at the time of hire.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • 2 Years Airfield management experience
    • Candidate with a Bachelor’s Degree and a Pilot’s License.
    • Completed internship related to Aviation Management

    The Airport Operations Officer job responsibilities include:
    • Ensure airport safety and security while providing excellent customer service.
    • Act as first responder to airport emergencies and coordinate with all involved agencies.
    • Monitor and evaluate the day-to-day activities of airside and landside operations at the City of Fort Worth airports to ensure compliance with lease provisions, policies and procedures and other governing regulations.
    • Conduct day and night inspections to ensure compliance with all pertinent FAA and TxDOT regulations.
    • Check airport facilities for repair and maintenance.
    • Interpret rules, regulations, policies and procedures to lessees and tenants.
    • Recommend necessary equipment and material purchases.
    • Analyze specific operational problem areas as assigned by the Airport Manager and/or Airport Operations Supervisor.
    • Conduct research and compile data to make recommendations for alternative operating methods or procedures.
    • Monitor construction projects for airport safety and governmental compliance.
    • Notify tenants and/or outside agencies of impending construction.
    • Revise and update Airport Certification Manuals and Airport Emergency Plans.
    • Ensure proper recording of all documentation and Airport’s 100 percent compliance with all FAA record keeping requirements.

    Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting; depending on assignment. Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, intense noises, gases, vibrations, chemicals, oils and workspace restrictions.

    Physical Demand

    Medium work - Depending on assignment, position in this class typically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.

    Medical Program

    The City offers two plan options through Meritain Health, an Aetna company.

    Vacation

    Eligible for 3 weeks of vacation: After successful completion of probationary period (usually
    6 months), employees may take time off for rest, relaxation, vacation, illness, religious observances, and personal business.

    Holidays

    Available on the first day of employment, the city provides employees with paid holidays, including two personal holidays.

    Wellness Program

    The city’s Healthy Challenge Wellness Program rewards all full-time, benefit-eligible employees on the city’s health insurance. The Healthy Challenge Program utilizes a points system. Participants may earn points throughout the year (Jan. 1-Dec. 15) for completing specific program activities and participants can redeem points at the end of the year for a cash reward. By participating, individuals can earn $150, $200 or $250 by accumulating program points.
