The Summer Fun Program Coordinator reports to the Youth Services Coordinator. The Summer Fun Program Coordinator plans, coordinates and administers the City’s Summer Fun Program; organizes and monitors program activities; communicates with parents; conducts counseling sessions; prepares and maintains program records; and supervises assigned personnel.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DECISION MAKING ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Supervises Site Supervisor and Activity Leader positions; trains and educates workers concerning City and departmental policies and procedures; supervises and administers program activities on playground campus site for approximately 150 participants.Supervises and trains approximately 11 summer workers about City and Parks and Recreation policies and procedures; manages and administers the Summer Fun Program.Prepares and schedules on and off campus site activities for approximately 150 school aged children.Responsible for supervision and training employees; oversees, administers, and monitors program activities. Maintains program documentation and responds to "on-call" situations.On-call 24 hours for any problem or situation which may arise which involves the Summer Fun Recreation program and activities.Other Miscellaneous Duties:
- Parent and child counseling
DECISION MAKING - Trains and monitors approximately 11 temporary employees.
- Planning ability: ability to assign appropriate summer personnel for various program activities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Salary is dependent upon qualifications) MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS - An associate degree in education, Recreation Administration, or related field is preferred.
- A combination of experience and education may be considered.
- 1+ years supervisory experience working with children in recreation and/or education setting is required.
- Valid Texas Driver's License with acceptable driving record.
- CPR Certification is required during week of training- administered by COSM.
- Required to work a full 9 weeks with the program.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Extensive experience working with children is preferred.

- Ability to deal effectively with several problems at one time; deal appropriately with several individuals in solving problems; analyze various types of data and reach conclusions.
- Basic calculations for review of enrollment controls.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS Physical requirements include working outdoors in extreme heat, humidity, and wind. Occasionally exposed to pool chemicals, slippery surfaces, and noise around crowds and whistles. Subject to standing, sitting, hearing, talking, vision, lifting to 20 lbs., pushing, pulling, handling, fine dexterity, foot controls, crouching, banding, twisting, climbing, balancing and reaching.
