    Job Summary

    Performs professional and administrative work coordinating a robust community engagement strategy for the Orlando Cares program, the City's volunteer program, with a focus on managing volunteers, training and supporting City of Orlando volunteer supervisors, and developing community partnerships. This position utilizes volunteer management software to recruit, screen, train, and place volunteers, supervises AmeriCorps VISTAs, and conducts public awareness campaigns to educate and inform the community about Orlando Cares program opportunities. Coordinates Mayor Buddy's Book Club, the City's youth literacy initiative. Additionally, seeks, writes, administers, and monitors federal, state, and private foundation grants. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Community Outreach Manager and Director of Community Affairs is reviewed periodically through conferences, reports, and results achieved .

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Bachelor's Degree in Communication, Public Relations, Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field plus three (3) years experience in social services, volunteer coordination and community relations, to include preferred experience in government, developing and administering community-based programs, grant administration, project management, supervision, and public speaking; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Driver's License required. Must pass a police background investigation which includes polygraph examination .

    If this posting indicates a degree is required, the following experience will apply in lieu of any degree as follows:
    • Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
    • Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
    • Six (6) years of direct experience for a master's degree; or
    • Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree.
