This position is with the Office of Administration Division of Facilities Management, Design, and Construction’s (OA-FMDC) Design and Construction Team, supporting the Interior Design Unit. What you’ll do: - Prioritize excellent customer service for wide and diverse network of internal and external stakeholders, including but not limited to internal teams, state agencies, state officials, contractors, and the public.
- Meet with client agencies to develop facility-related goals for office renovations, ranging from single cubicle revisions to large-scale office suite layout remodels.
- Assist agencies with translating their facility goals into drawings and specifications for facility-related construction projects.
- Utilize AutoCAD design and drafting software to create, publish, and archive construction drawings used in the procurement of construction services.
- Collaborate with client agencies and contractors throughout the construction process to ensure projects are completed on time, on budget, and meet the goals and expectations of the client agency.
- Perform field verifications of facilities to define facility projects, develop accurate scopes of work, and reduce unforeseen conditions.
- Conduct, review, and inspect drawings, buildings, and facilities to ensure compliance with applicable codes.
- Assist in project planning and review of construction documents from a design perspective.
- Create and edit technical specifications in the CSI industry standard format and prepare estimates of construction costs based on published RSMeans cost data.
- Follow all OA-FMDC health and safety protocols in addition to OSHA standards.

- Exceptional problem solving, communication, conflict resolution, and mediation skills to gain buy-in and facilitate project completion.
- Bachelor’s degree with a focus in interior design, architecture/architectural studies, engineering/engineering technology, or related field of study. (Substitutions may apply.)
- Minimum of 1 year relevant experience in the industry.
- Ability to manage numerous time-sensitive projects independently or as part of a team using procedures, processes, regulations, and practices applicable to the scope of work.
- Ability to travel independently across the state, in order to perform on-site field work that may require climbing around and over a variety of facility building components in order to field measure and inventory existing office furniture and facility room spaces.
- Excellent attendance, work ethic, attention to detail, and critical thinking skills.
- Safety-first mindset with considerable knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
- Knowledge of the facility-related architectural/engineering industry, including design issue problem solving; understanding of the fundamentals of building codes, design standards, construction methods and construction problem resolution; and a basic knowledge of construction procurement methodologies.
- Proficiency in using AutoCAD to prepare industry standard construction drawings, RSMeans, eBuilder project management software, and Microsoft Office suite products.
- Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license from Missouri or from an adjacent state if you reside outside of Missouri.

*This position is in an office environment and job duties may include prolonged periods of seated work at a desk, typing, written and verbal communication, problem solving, and the occasional ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds. Examples of job duties may also include prolonged periods of walking/standing/sitting/bending/driving, climbing ladders, working in inclement weather and working on uneven or elevated surfaces such as roofs; and climbing around and over a variety of facility building components in order to field measure and inventory assets and space. Please note, this position is considered a “Category 0” under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), meaning the incumbent will not normally receive overtime compensation except in unusual circumstances as determined by appointing authorities.
