    Currently the Public Works Department is seeking one full-time Management Analyst to join the team. The selected candidate will plan, organize, and report the activities of the Urban Stormwater/National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Program and other environmental programs. Additionally, this position ensures the City’s compliance with federal and state environmental regulations pertaining to water quality.

    SELECTION COMPONENTS:
    • Application Evaluation: Applications will be accepted on a continuous basis with the first review date of February 28, 2025 .     • Interview: Those candidates deemed most qualified as reflected in their application will be invited to an i n-person interview t entatively scheduled for March 25, 2025 . Passing applicants will be placed on an eligibility list that may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur.

    SCHEDULE:
    • This position may work a 5/40 or 9/80 schedule.

    RETIREMENT:

    The City offers an excellent benefit package and membership in the California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS). The retirement formula is based on appointment date and membership status with CalPERS and the employee may be required to contribute 11.5% of pay towards their retirement benefit.

    Experience & Education and License/Certificate

    A combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities may be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

    Experience: Three years of increasingly responsible professional level administrative experience.

    Education: Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in business or public administration or a related field.

    License/Certificate : Due to the performance of some field duties which require the operation of a personal or City vehicle, a valid and appropriate California driver's license and an acceptable driving record are required.

    The City of Newport Beach is located in the coastal center of Orange County, with Los Angeles County to the north and San Diego County to the south.     The City of Newport Beach was incorporated September 1, 1906 and the current City Charter was adopted in 1954. The City operates under a Council-Manager form of government. Its seven City Council Members are elected by district, but are voted on by the population as a whole. They serve four-year terms. The Council consists of the Mayor and six other members and is responsible for policy-making, passing local ordinances, adopting the budget, appointing committees and hiring the City Manager, City Attorney, and City Clerk. The City Manager is responsible for carrying out the policies and ordinances of the City Council, for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the City, and for appointing heads of departments.
