    Minimum Qualifications

    • Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Information Science, Computer Science, Electronics, or in a field related to the job, plus four (4) years experience working in a business process/systems analysis environment, two (2) years of which were in a lead capacity.
    • Experience may substitute for education up to four (4) years.

    The IT Enterprise Architect is primarily responsible for aligning radio technology with business goals for Greater Austin Travis County Regional Radio System ( GATRRS ) to support highly available operations and strategic growth. The position will be involved in the design and integration of various applications on the system, establish security and functional standards, and coordinate with various systems connecting to GATRRS . With expanding infrastructure, network and applications on GATRRS , the IT Enterprise Architect will be responsible for establishing standardized configurations for connectivity and shared services across systems affiliated to GATRRS . The IT Enterprise Architect will oversee system integration and access management of radio applications on the Radio Network Infrastructure ( RNI ) and Customer Enterprise Network ( CEN ).

    The IT Enterprise Architect will support the expansion to GATRRS Master core and Dynamic System Resiliency core and will lead planning, testing, and implementation of new and enhanced technical services on GATRRS . The Architect is responsible for monitoring the system capacity, and generate system reports to share with extended GATRRS community.

    The IT Enterprise Architect will be the primary liasion for the Cyber Operations team in the department and provide guidance on NIST standards for Cybersecurity, monitor and take appropriate actions on CISA alerts and notifications, support security reviews, lead cybercentric meetings and will be the owner of the System Security Plan.

    The Architect will support management in creating and maintaining a technology roadmap for the system. The Architect will support planning of lifecycle refresh of technology, provide risk analysis on upgrades and work with the functional managers on budget proposals.

    Supporting a critical infrastructure radio system, the IT Enterprise Architect is required to be onsite with remote work dependent on business requirements. The IT Enterprise Architect shall be available for on-call support, based on business needs.

    This position has been designated as an Essential Employee. Essential Employees provide services that impact the public health, safety, utility services, and welfare of members of the Austin community and other employees and ensure the continuity of essential operations. In the event of a designated emergency, these positions will be called back or retained to assist with operations and recovery. Essential employee schedules will be modified based on extraordinary situations or emergency conditions and may be assigned to report to a designed work site. The designated work site will be a location of city-owned or City-leased space to which an employee would traditionally be assigned and report for work, if not teleworking.

    Pay Range
    $48.38 - $66.04

    This position requires after hours and on call support, based on operational needs. This position is primarily on site with the ability to telework with prior manager approval.

    Duties, Functions and Responsibilities
    Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.

    Provides overall direction, guidance, and definition of technology architecture to effectively support business strategy. Develops the enterprise viewpoint, in which the business, information and technology viewpoints are synthesized into solutions that deliver capabilities to the broader City. Develops, reviews, and leads the implementation plan for the enterprise architecture based on requirements and strategies. Reviews existing processes and establishes metrics to improve processes, as well as support of all architectural disciplines under their direction. Leads analysis of technology industry and market trends to determine their potential impact on the enterprise architecture. Ensures the integration of all aspects of architecture across the City IT organization and alignment with business strategies, objectives, and capability needs. Leads the development of holistic blueprints in coordination with domain architects. Participates in the business strategic planning cycle, gaining an understanding of common issues, drivers, imperatives, and objectives across the enterprise. Coordinates with other plans and strategic partners, identifying opportunities for shared solutions. Provides architectural leadership, guidance, and support for the broader architectural community.

    • Knowledge of basic graphical modeling approaches, tools and model repositories.

    City Government
