    Hours per day: 7.5

    Salary Level: Based on preparation level and experience per TEA Collective Bargaining Agreement. Range is $71,755 (BA+0 step 1) through $140,729 (MA+90 step 20)

    Union/Days per year: Teacher, 182 workdays, 10-month

    This is a REPLACEMENT contract for the 2024-2025 school year only or until the employee returns from his or her leave, whichever occurs first.

    This position guides and empowers novice teachers to meet the educational needs of students; plans, organizes and provides learning experiences for teachers to equip them with the knowledge necessary to achieve the best of their individual potential as teachers and strengthen teachers’ impact on student learning.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    1. Provides mentoring to novice teachers in varying areas of academic endorsement and at varying grade levels.

    2. Consults and mentors novice teachers through whole group, small group and one-on-one; models and supports effective teaching and learning practices; works with each teacher to achieve measureable achievement goals through observation, reflection and instruction; assists teachers in analyzing progress towards achievement goals; uses analysis to support and educate teachers for the purpose of planning, organizing and providing learning experiences for teachers.

    3. Supports teachers with curriculum implementation, best instructional practice and in setting clear student achievement goals appropriate to grade level, classroom and individual students; assists teachers in analyzing progress towards individual student achievement goals for the purpose of empowering teachers to meet the educational needs of students.

    4. Provides effective growth opportunities for each teacher; identifies resources to support learning for the purpose of equipping them with the knowledge necessary to achieve the best of their individual potential as teachers.

    5. Participates in a variety of meetings with District staff, administrators, parents and students for the purpose of guiding teachers to meet the educational needs of students.

    6. Successfully utilizes resources and services of the community and the District for the purpose of enhancing the teacher’s learning and effectiveness.

    7. Maintains the necessary current records and reports and utilizes data to modify and improve program effectiveness under guidance of Teaching and Learning; participates in Mentor Teacher program evaluation for the purpose of planning learning experiences for teachers.

    8. Engages in professional learning to develop and practice the knowledge, skills and dispositions necessary for promoting the growth of new teachers.

    9. Ensures that the teachers and District get maximum returns on all equipment, materials, supplies and utilities used under his/her direction for the purpose of planning learning experiences for teachers.

    10. Assess teacher’s strengths and needs and provides guidance which will inform and improve teacher instruction and promote the teacher professional growth for the purpose of guiding and empowering teachers to meet the educational needs of students.

    OTHER JOB DUTIES

    1. Evidence of professional growth by attendance at workshops, classes, professional mentor networking groups, regional mentor meetings (such as Mentor Roundtables) and training related to assignment.

    2. Working collaboratively with Induction, Mentoring and Support Team.

    3. Performs related duties as assigned, on a temporary basis.

    CONDITIONS

    Work is performed in various locations throughout the District; required to work flexible hours and with a flexible calendar.

    Education and Experience

    Bachelor’s degree from accredited university with appropriate educational endorsement; Master’s degree preferred; five years of classroom teaching experience at a level appropriate to assignment; three years of demonstrated experience in facilitating and/or training adults in an educational setting and/or participation in Washington State mentor training; or any combination of experience and training which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and ability required to perform the work.

    Knowledge and skill in instructional principles, methods and advanced teaching techniques using multiple approaches.

    Knowledge of current District curriculum, methods and materials at level appropriate to assignment.

    Knowledge of local, state and federal learning goals and professional teaching standards.

    Skill in implementing local, state and federal learning goals and professional teaching standards.

    Skill in articulating research and theory into practical classroom application.

    Skill in implementing school and District policies and initiatives.

    Skill in obtaining, clarifying and exchanging information.

    Skill in oral and written communication.

    Skill in appropriate and current classroom applications of technology that deepen learning.

    Skill in classroom management.

    Skill in handling student discipline.

    Ability and willingness to learn, instruct and implement the District program in an unstructured environment.

    Ability to understand and provide effective professional development to teachers as adult learners.

    Ability to demonstrate research-based classroom management skills.

    Ability to demonstrate knowledge of the state assessment program.

    Ability to build relationships that foster learning.

    Ability to promote reflective practices for new teachers.

    Ability to deepen content and pedagogy knowledge and skills.

    Ability to organize and prioritize work.

    Ability to be pro-active, research issues and problems, interpret and analyze and make sound recommendations.

    Ability to serve as role model and treat teachers and students as individuals in a professional manner.

    Ability to demonstrate reasonable, reliable and regular attendance.

    Ability to maintain confidentiality.

    Ability to respond to cultures and contexts of the school and community.

    Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of people in a multi-cultural, diverse socio-economic setting.

    Licenses/Special Requirements

    Valid Washington State teaching certificate.

    Washington State Mentor Academy training through the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction.

    Valid Washington State driver’s license, use of personal vehicle and proof of insurance.

    Fingerprints and successful WSP and FBI background clearance/sexual misconduct clearance.
