Higginsville Habilitation Center (HHC) is recruiting for a Supervising Support Care Assistant (SSCA), to be a part of a highly effective team that supports over 200 employees, that makes a difference in the lives of adults with developmental disabilities. HHC is a state-operated program within the Department of Mental Health and supports 40+ individuals receiving 24/7 services.
The SSCA must be detail-oriented, work well with others, have good time management skills, possess leadership skills, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and be proficient with Microsoft Office and other computer programs and be willing to travel on occasion.
This is a supervisory direct care position accountable for administering medication and other prescribed treatments; taking vital signs, assisting with care plan activities; observing and reporting client conditions and behaviors; and participating in rehabilitation, ambulation, and transfers. The SSCA communicates with doctors, clients, and families, and educates clients on their care. The SSCA may provide transport to offsite appointments. The SSCA oversees work of other support care staff by managing the schedule of staff, directly supervising float staff, acting as the supervisor in charge, and by taking on-call responsibility. Knowledge of facility practices, rules and regulations and methods and techniques of supervision. Ability to evaluate work of assigned staff.
Preferred Qualifications: - Two or more years of experience in the field of developmental disabilities.
- Experience working with individuals and teams to ensure that rights are protected.
- Experience supervising, scheduling, and working with teams.
