    Minimum Qualifications
    Education and/or Equivalent Experience:
    • Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus two (2) years of experience related to janitorial services.
    • Experience may substitute for education up to a maximum of four (4) years.


    Licenses or Certifications:
    • Valid Texas Class C Driver License within ninety (90) days of hire.

    POSITION OVERVIEW

    Provides facility maintenance, security, emergency services, general housekeeping cleaning and disinfecting services, and moving and arranging services for the airport terminal and campus.

    Utilizes general housekeeping tools such as brooms, vacuums, mops, dusters, etc. for sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, trash/recycling removal, etc., operates a vehicle; utilizes bio-hazard cleanup methods and monitors/replaces bio-hazard syringe boxes.

    Prepare cleaning solutions by mixing and measuring a variety of cleaning substances.

    Works in conjunction with airport personnel to ensure security and safety for airport facilities; ensures facility lock-down, including closets, offices, entrance, and exit doors; monitors for security breaches, unattended packages, suspicious persons and activities, etc.; reports any unsafe and suspicious activity to appropriate personnel.

    Evacuate customers and isolates airport facilities when emergencies arise, i.e. security breaches, bad weather, and for emergencies, etc., inspect trash cans for suspicious items, etc.

    Responds to facility and event requests such as airline baggage systems failures and contingencies, requests from airlines, city employees, airport tenants, bio-hazards and spills, calls for lost and found items, etc.

    Provide customer service to passengers, tenants, visitors, etc. by providing solicited and unsolicited information.

    Perform administrative duties and responsibilities including completing forms, logs, personal timesheets, submitting work order requests and other requested documentation, etc., and notifying the supervisor of low inventory and work orders.

    Physical Requirements:
    This is a physically demanding position that will require that you be able to perform the following essential job functions with confidence and with or without reasonable accommodations:
    Ability to walk and stand continuously.
    Ability to sit, bend, stoop, twist, climb, kneel, and crawl for periods of time.
    Ability to reach and stretch overhead.
    Ability to demonstrate repetitive hand and foot movement, finger dexterity, grasping, squeezing, and repetitive motions.
    Ability to carry, lift, push, and pull up to fifty (50) pounds unassisted, with occasional climbing of stairs and ladders.
    Ability to work in environments with exposure to vibrations, noise, mechanical and chemical hazards, fume and odor hazards, toxic waste, and material hazards.
    Ability to work with possible contact with blood and other potentially infectious materials.

    Selected candidates may be required to complete and pass a pre-employment physical exam to be considered for this position.

    ASSESSMENT

    A skills assessment will be required for this position.

    DRIVING REQUIREMENT :
    This position requires a Valid Texas Class C Driver License or the ability to acquire one by your hire date. External New Hires must meet the City of Austin’s Driver Record Evaluation ( DRE ) requisite . To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty-six (36) months. Job Offer is contingent on having a driving record that meets the City’s Driver Record Evaluation Standards.

    ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL

    This position is categorized as essential personnel. Essential personnel are required to come to work during emergencies or bad weather at the airport if they are scheduled to work and in some cases when they are not scheduled.

    CRIMINAL HISTORY RECORDS CHECK

    The top candidate will be subject to a minimum 10 year criminal background check and security threat assessment.

    SHIFT INCENTIVE

    Shift work includes shift differential incentive for evening and night shifts and weekends.
