    DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION

    About You: Do you love working with people of all ages? Our Locker Room Attendants are a key part of our team that assist aquatics staff by maintaining the restrooms and locker room areas and assisting patrons. If this sounds good keep reading!

    About Us: We work directly with members of the public as they enjoy our 31 swimming pools, 23 splash pads and 5 wading pools. We are looking for individuals to add to our team with excellent customer service skills and that love helping others. Guests at our locations enjoy free swimming, scheduled classes, and other activities.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Keeps the locker room and swimming pool area in a neat, clean and sanitary condition, using janitorial techniques.
    • Performs general tasks which include, but are not limited to, putting supplies away, sweeping, mopping, and wiping surfaces that are wet from towels or bathing suits.
    • Observes the conduct of patrons and enforces compliance with departmental regulations.
    • Maintains good public relations and provides information to the public concerning pool policies, procedures and programs.
    • Provides general support and administrative assistance related to pool programs, such as answering telephone and assisting with inventory of equipment and supplies.
    • Activates the emergency action plan in the event of an accident, injury or other incident when necessary.
    • Assist pool staff with special swim events, such as running event cards between meet officials and escorting participants to and from the starting area.


    Requirements

    REQUIREMENTS TO QUALIFY:
    No training or experience is required.
    • Age Requirement: You must be sixteen (16) years or older by May 23, 2025. Proof of age will be required at time of appointment.
    • Work Permit: Required at time of appointment for minors under the age of eighteen (18) years old.

    PHYSICAL CLASS II - Light:
    This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.

    DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
    Credit will be given to applicants who possess the following:
    • Three (3) months customer service experience working with the public.
    • Three (3) months experience working with children in a classroom setting or childcare environment.


    Additional Information

    EXAMINATION CONTENT:
    This assessment type will evaluate the training and experience you list on a questionnaire and assign a score based on a standardized scoring system. This assessment is worth 100% of your total score.

    The passing score for the assessment is 70%.

    ELIGIBILITY INFORMATION:
    Candidates who pass the assessment are placed on a list in the order of their score group for a period of six (6) months. We will use this list to fill vacancies as they occur.

    The list of successful candidates created from this exam will be used to fill vacancies throughout the Department of Parks and Recreation as they occur. These positions are for TEMPORARY (PART-TIME) employment for North Los Angeles County.

    • El Cariso Regional Park Pool - Sylmar

    • Everett Martin Pool - Palmdale
    • Knollwood Pool - Granada Hills
