    Restricted to permanent employees of Los Angeles County who have passed their initial probation period and currently hold the payroll title of Staff Assistant I.

    General Information: The Justice, Care and Opportunities Department (JCOD) is seeking a highly qualified individual for the position of Staff Assistant I. The Staff Assistant I will perform a variety of administrative functions and support to meet the business needs of the Department.

    Essential Job Functions

    Duties may include, but are not limited to:
    • Analyze and make recommendations to the unit manager to optimize efficiency and operational goals of the unit
    • Assist management with guidelines, targets, and defining program objectives
    • Assist in the coordination and implementation of Committee meetings and/or programs; and may participate in the implementation of changes resulting from recommendations
    • Coordinate event planning, execution, and visual communications
    • Prepare reports utilizing Excel to support unit operations and inform decision making
    • Coordinate and resolve problems between the unit and Administrative Services (payroll, personnel, training, etc.)
    • Has responsibility for evaluating, ordering maintaining, loaning, and inventorying supplies and equipment, and for resolving procurement problems with the departmental supply officer
    • Supervises clerical personnel with responsibility for assigning and reviewing work, orientation, training, development and evaluation of work performance


    Requirements

    Must be a permanent Los Angeles County employee who has passed their initial probation period and currently holds the payroll title of Staff Assistant I.

    Desirable Qualifications:
    • Ability to manage multiple assignments, work independently, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams


    Additional Information
