Part-time position available with the Parks & Recreation Department, Environmental Services Division located at Lakeside Nature Center, 4701 E. Gregory Blvd
Salary Range: $16.12-$24.58/hour
Normal Work Days/Hours: Workdays may vary, 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m. (3 days per week) *Scheduled workdays may include a weekend day, potential holidays, or possible changes (without notice) to cover for staffing shortages

Responsibilities
- Provides assistance to the Nature Center with day-to-day care of display and education animal ambassadors, and the wildlife rehabilitation hospital.
- Develops and implements animal welfare assessments, behavioral enrichment and training programs for education ambassadors.
- Participates with preparing, coordinating and organizing environmental education programs and nature hikes.
- Assists with day-to-day operations preforming duties such as answering phones, assisting customers, working the front desk, collecting fees, issuing receipts, cleaning, and other duties assigned by the Center Director.
- Assists with ensuring that public safety guidelines are followed, and grounds are maintained as a safe environment.
- Maintains records of work activities as needed.
Qualifications
REQUIRES high school graduation OR at least 16 years of age.
May be required to possess a valid state-issued driver's license in accordance with City of KCMO policies. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen as prescribed by the City. Preference given to those who have animal, conservation, and/or environmental experience.

For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.
If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
