    General Medicine Advance Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)

    Job Location:

    St. Louis Forensic Treatment Center-North Campus

    What you’ll do:

    The successful applicant will work directly with the collaborating internist to manage the medical issues of the patients at FTC North.

    Your responsibilities would include, but not limited to:

    u Perform admission H&P examinations as well as annual exams.

    u Initiate screening and diagnostic procedures.

    u Develop and implement medical treatment plans and monitor for effectiveness.

    u Prescribe medications for medical illnesses.

    u Work in an interdisciplinary team including psychiatric providers, social workers, psychologists, dieticians, pharmacists, and rehabilitation specialists.

    u Refer to outside specialists at BJC, SLU, and St. Mary’s Hospital as needed.

    What you’ll need for success :

    Minimum qualifications : A Graduate degree (APRN, Physician Associate, DNP) in internal medicine or family practice. At least 2-years’ experience.

    Preferred skills : The ideal candidate will have experience providing medical care to a psychiatric population.

    Lack of post-secondary education will not be used as the sole basis denying consideration to any applicant.

    The facility is a 75-bed forensic inpatient state psychiatric hospital with 3 units (25 beds per unit). The average length of stay for our patients is between 6-9 months. We focus on competency restoration for patients who have been found incompetent to stand trial. These patients may have a major mental illness, a brain injury, an intellectual disability, or a medical illness that causes them to be unable to assist in the legal proceedings against them.
