Examples of Duties- Reviews, integrates, and analyzes transit operations databases needed to produce meaningful reports to be used in evaluating and improving transit service, as well as, reporting performance measures
- Develops, enhances, tests, maintains, and supports computer applications for schedule planning and data collection systems
- Monitors, maintains, and enhances performance and reliability of automated systems through programming, development, and modifications
- Provides lead support to staff for data processing of raw data
- Creates ad hoc queries, macros, and procedures for computerized automation
- Coordinates with consultants, inter-organization departments, and operating divisions to collect National Transit Database (NTD) and scheduling data to build better scheduling systems
- Complies with requests for regular or ad hoc reports
- Performs computer systems analysis and design for performance reporting and operations planning application systems
- Interacts with and provides subject matter expertise to Operations Management staff, consultants, and IT (Information Technology) staff for developing, testing, and implementing new systems and enhancing existing systems
- Contributes to the development of Requests for Proposal (RFPs), including assisting in the development of Scope of Work, participating in the procurement process, and overseeing project after award
- Represents supervisor as directed

Minimum QualificationsA combination of education and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position. Additional experience, as outlined below, may be substituted for required education on a year-for-year basis. A typical combination includes:
Education- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field
Experience- Five years of relevant experience developing, operating, or supporting application systems in an IBM mainframe, mini-computer, and/or microcomputer environment with at least two years of experience in relational database management; transportation planning or scheduling experience preferred
Certifications/Licenses/Special Requirements- A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions
- On-call work and travel as required
Essential KnowledgeKnowledge of (defined as a learned body of information that is required for and applied in the performance of job tasks)
- Current relational database management techniques
- Applicable local, state, and federal laws, rules, and regulations governing transportation policies for a public agency
- Theories, principles, and processes required in database design, development process, entity-relationships, business rules, structural constraints, and data administration and warehousing
- Web application development
- Products used in Business Intelligence Reporting
- Project management techniques
Skill in (defined as the proficient manual, verbal, or mental utilization of data, people, or things)
- Coordinating application development and programming activities
- Creating Business Intelligence (BI) Analysis, dashboards, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Analyzing situations, identifying problems, and recommending solutions

- Preparing comprehensive reports and correspondence
- Interacting professionally with various levels of Metro employees and outside representatives

Pension Plan- PTSC retirement plan is the Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS). Vesting is five (5) years. Minimum retirement age is 52, based on the 2% at 62 formula.
