POSITION SUMMARYCoordinates, participates in, and acts as a lead worker over crews engaging in maintenance and security activities of the City's Parking Administration Building and parking garage facilities. Responsible for a variety of administrative tasks such as scheduling and coordinating parking garage facility maintenance and repair work performed by City crews as well as private contractors; obtaining bids for equipment and smaller maintenance and repair jobs; and providing input regarding current policies, procedures or methods.

- Plans, organizes, schedules, participates in and inspects work of crews engaged in safeguarding inside and outside the City's parking garage facilities to detect attempted trespassing, theft, fire, vandalism or other damage to property.
- Plans, organizes, schedules, participates in the work of crews engaged in such activities as the cleaning, sweeping, clearing, repairing, and patrolling of the City's parking garage facilities.
- Responsible for the preparation of work schedules, assignments of crews, training of crews, and technical direction over the work performed.
- Reviews and completes incident reports and acts as necessary on unusual security problems/events; Contacts Risk Management regarding issues that may result in liability for the City.
- Participates in the preparation of specifications for the acquisition of new equipment and services; contacts vendors regarding product features and services.
- Maintains inventory of supplies and coordinates preventative maintenance and repair schedules of non-fleet vehicles; Coordinates fire suppression and elevator inspections.
- Trains employees on how to perform their respective job functions.
- Performs related work as required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: Have graduated from a standard high school or possess an acceptable G.E.D. certificate from a recognized issuing agency.Have at least three (3) years' experience in varied construction, maintenance, and repair of parking garage facilities and property or other appropriate experience. Experience must have included at least one (1) year as a lead worker or supervisor.Completion of coursework at an accredited college or university in a job-related field, may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required experience. Possess or be able to obtain a valid State of Florida Driver's license within 30 days of hire.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Prior work experience as a security guard or similar position.Prior work experience within the parking industry, including but not limited to, enforcing parking regulations, working special events, or maintaining parking facilities.Prior work experience in directing and controlling flows of traffic.State of Florida Traffic Enforcement Certification.General knowledge of skilled trades including electrical, carpentry, plumbing, and/or painting.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS :
This position will require flexible hours; the majority of work will be during nights, weekends and holidays. An employee in this class must be available to provide emergency supervision during non-duty hours including nights, weekends and holidays. As public servants, employees may be required to work immediately before, during, and/or after an emergency. All employees must be available and able to work assigned shifts as determined by their Department Heads.
PHYSICAL STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The position involves medium physical demands, such as exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. Ability to lift, carry, climb, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, walk, push, pull, grasp, stand and access heights or areas where limited space is available. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
