    The Position

    Custodial Workers perform general cleaning services to State facilities using various cleaning equipment and materials to provide a safe, hygienic and orderly work environment.

PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO THOSE WHO WERE PRESENT AT THE EVENT, HOWEVER ALL APPLICATIONS WILL BE REVIEWED AND CONSIDERED. *** Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others. The Nevada Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) is recruiting for a Custodial Worker 2 at the Desert willow Treatment Center (DWTC). DWTC is a staff secure facility for male and female youths aged 12 to 18. The DWTC goal is to promote positive self-growth, create change in behavior, attitudes, values, and ways of thinking for youth. Under the direction of the Custodial Supervisor 1, the Custodial Worker 2 performs general cleaning services to State facilities using various cleaning equipment and materials to provide a safe, hygienic, and orderly work environment for all users.

    The position cleans and/or sanitizes offices, restrooms, showers, bathtubs, laundry rooms, classrooms, and all other facilities or assigned areas according to prescribed schedules, methods, and procedures. The position dusts, mops, and applies finish to various types of floors; vacuums and shampoos various types of carpets; washes windows, doors, mirrors, walls, woodwork, and fixtures; cleans and sanitizes restrooms; polishes furniture; cleans stairwells and elevators; and empties waste receptacles. Custodial Workers operate various types of powered equipment such as electric strippers, buffers, burnishers, power washers, and vacuums; utilizes a wide range of cleaning agents and materials; and observe appropriate safety precautions in the handling and application of products and materials; and attend in-service and training sessions as required. The position will replace light bulbs, fluorescent tubes, vacuum belts and bags; report broken and malfunctioning equipment to supervisor and request cleaning supplies as needed. The position helps move and transport furniture to different locations; sets up rooms in a timely manner for meetings and special events.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial, industrial, hospital, governmental or similar environment; OR six months of general work experience and one year of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial, industrial, hospital, governmental or similar environment; OR six months of experience as a Custodial Worker I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Notes Incumbents may be required to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays in addition to their normal work schedules. Special Requirements A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. This position requires the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation.
