    Minimum Qualifications
    This position will be filled at one of the following levels depending upon candidate qualifications:

    Energy Market Analyst:
    • Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university,plus three (3) years of experience in a related field.
    • Master’s degree with major course work in a field related to the job may substitute for experience up to one (1) year.
    • PhD. with major course work in a field related to the job may substitute for experience up to two (2) years.


    Licenses and Certifications Required:
    None

    Energy Market Analyst Senior:
    • Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, plus five (5) years of experience in a related field
    • A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a field related to the job may substitute for experience up to one (1) year
    • PhD. from an accredited college or university with major course work in a field related to the job may substitute for experience up to two (2) years

    The Energy Market Analyst resides in the Energy Market Analysis & Resource Planning group of Energy and Market Operations Division. The Energy Market Analysis and Resource Planning group is responsible for anywhere from 5 minutes to 20 years supporting various activities such as Resource planning, Renewable integration & evaluation, Congestion revenue rights auction, load forecasting, fuel planning, Analyzing market conditions, Power purchase evaluation, Analyzing Market design changes etc.

    Critical:

    This position has been designated as a Critical Employee position. Critical Employees are considered necessary and vital and supports activities that impact City or department operations. This work can be done while at a designated work site or while working at an alternate work location. Critical employees who are able to work at an alternative work location are required to do so. Schedules may be modified, and employees may be reassigned to another area during extraordinary situations or emergency conditions to provide essential services.

    ERCOT
    This position requires the use of an ERCOT Digital Certificate ( EDC ) and therefore will require a Security Review to determine if the candidate meets all the requirements for issuance of the EDC .
    NERC
    This position will require yearly NERC Clearance
    Pay Range
    Commensurate

    8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

    Work outside of regular business hours/days may be required due to business needs.

    • Experience with modeling transmission systems, energy markets, utility operations, and/or LMP (Nodal) markets using security-constrained unit commitment and economic dispatch models
    • Experience with analyzing causes and cost impacts of Transmission Congestion
    • Experience with power/energy trading and electricity generation fuel markets
    • Experience with production cost models such as UPLAN /Aurora/Promod, etc.
    • Experience with SAS statistical programming languages such as R, Python or other scripting language and BI tools such as Tableau or MS Power BI

    City Government
