The JobSan Bernardino County Land Use Services is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented to serve as
Land Use Technicians. Land Use Technicians play a key role in processing various planning, building, and development-related applications to ensure compliance with county regulations.
Key responsibilities may include:
- Process planning, building, and development-related permit applications.
- Provide accurate and timely information to the public regarding land use regulations and procedures.
- Conduct field investigations to gather, research, and verify development-related information.
- Review development and construction plans for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with local regulations.
- Compile and analyze legal, statistical, demographic, environmental, and historical data for land use reports.
- Write detailed reports for the land use team to inform decisions.
- Process special use permit applications to ensure compatibility of residential and commercial activities with surrounding properties.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Pre-Employment Process: Prior to appointment, applicants must undergo a background check, which includes fingerprinting and a medical exam.

Minimum RequirementsCandidates must meet ONE of the options below to qualify.
OPTION 1: One (1) year of full-time experience processing permit applications for, or enforcing, code compliance related to land use, building, construction, fire, environmental, or other code regulations, which includes explaining related regulations and requirements to the public.
OPTION 2: One (1) year of full-time experience with primary responsibility for reading and interpreting real property parcel maps for the purpose of identifying specific property descriptions determining allowable use and ownership; experience must include title searches.
Desired QualificationsThe ideal candidate will have excellent customer service experience and showcase a positive attitude, especially during peak times.
