The Job San Bernardino County is recruiting for
Electricians who install, maintain, replace, and service electrical systems and equipment in a variety of buildings throughout the County. Electricians work with both high voltage (120-480v) and low voltage electrical systems, and may access building automation systems controls to troubleshoot issues and make necessary adjustments. Additional duties include interpreting electrical blue prints and schematics; testing, locating, and repairing electrical systems; conducting readings and rounds on equipment; performing preventative maintenance; and estimating material requirements.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Pre-Employment Process: Applicants must successfully pass a background check and a job-related physical exam, including a drug test, prior to employment.
Physical: This position requires occasional lifting of heavy objects, either manually or with the aid of lifting devices; and also requires occasional squatting, climbing, crawling, kneeling, and stooping.
Environment: Incumbents work in confined spaces and may occasionally be exposed to hazardous chemicals, infectious materials, and radiation.
Travel: Travel throughout the County is required. Employees must possess and maintain a valid California Class C driver's license and insurance. Mileage reimbursement is available.
Availability: Incumbents may occasionally be required to work overtime, including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.

Minimum Requirements Applicants must meet ONE (1) of the following options: OPTION 1 - Work Experience: Five (5) years of full-time journey-level experience as an electrician, performing installation, maintenance, and repair of building electrical systems. Experience must include working with high voltage (over 120v) installations and repairs.
OPTION 2 - Apprenticeship: Successful completion of a formal (4-year) electrical apprenticeship program resulting in a journey-level status. Experience must include working with high voltage (over 120v) installations and repairs. Indicate apprenticeship provider and completion date on the Supplemental Questionnaire.
Desired QualificationsThe highly qualified candidate will have extensive experience as a journey-level electrician, including high voltage (up to 480v) repairs, with multiple buildings and computerized building automation systems, and will have full understanding of NFPA 70E regulations.
