The Bay Area Air Quality Management District (Air District) is a regional government agency, committed to achieving clean air to protect the public's health and the environment. The District accomplishes this goal through regulation of industrial facilities and various outreach and incentive programs designed to encourage clean air choices.
The Air District's jurisdiction encompasses all of seven counties - Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara and Napa, and portions of two others - southwestern Solano and southern Sonoma.
The Air District is currently accepting applications for the position of Senior Air Quality Specialist-Limited Term in the Meteorology and Measurement Division (M&M).This is an open recruitment for one full-time, 3-year limited term position.
This recruitment will fill vacancies in the Meteorology & Quality Assurance section (Quality Assurance Management).
This is a Limited Term Contract Employee (LTCE) Position. LTCE positions are funded by grants or other designated funds which are not part of the Air District’s ongoing general fund budget. LTCE positions are subject to individual employment contracts and are limited to the duration of their funding source. Regular employees have the right to apply for an LTCE position. However, LTCE positions are not subject to the terms of the Employee Association MOU, and LTCE employees serve on an at-will basis.
The Meteorology and Measurement Division supports the mission of the District by monitoring air quality in the San Francisco Bay Area and emissions from industrial facilities; forecasting regional and local air quality; and conducting and supporting community organizations to do community-scale monitoring to guide actions to reduce emissions in the Bay Area and in neighborhoods most impacted by air pollution.
Meteorology & Quality Assurance
The Meteorology & Quality Assurance section of the Meteorology and Measurement Division is tasked with coordinating air monitoring Quality Assurance, The Senior Air Quality Specialist for MQA will primarily support the Quality Assurance Officer, serving as a lead for the quality assurance program and activities. Responsibilities include facilitating training for technical staff on quality assurance for air monitoring programs, act as the lead for the Division’s QA documentation update project and the development of forms that support the implementation of SOPs using District SharePoint tools. .
